Acoustic analogs for the characterization room electromagnetics

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017
In indoor wireless communication the radio channel is comprised of the direct and diffuse multipath components. As in the acoustics case these diffuse components are the result of non-specular and random scattering. This state-of-affairs is particularly problematic for short-range millimeter wavelength radio system.

Analog acoustic expression in speech communication

Journal of Memory and Language, 2006
Abstract We present the first experimental evidence of a phenomenon in speech communication we call “analog acoustic expression.” Speech is generally thought of as conveying information in two distinct ways: discrete linguistic-symbolic units such as words and sentences represent linguistic meaning, and continuous prosodic forms convey information ...

Quantum logic gate analogies in nonlinear acoustics

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America
This study introduces a framework using acoustic phase bits (phibits) as classical analogs to quantum bits for realizing quantum-like gates. These phibits are realized on a metastructure composed of aluminum rods glued with epoxy. First, we realize a single phibit gate in a general form for a Bloch sphere representation, providing a foundation for ...

Moiré Fringe Analogs in Underwater Acoustics

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1961
Recently, the writer described a moiré fringe analog for underwater sound modes. Now, attention is given to the work of Pohl and Shubnikov with moiré patterns from circular grids which are of possible use in underwater array design and underwater sound propagation investigations.

An Analog Electronic Correlator for Acoustic Measurements

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1955
A study has been made of the applicability of correlation techniques to the field of acoustic measurements. The development of an analog electronic correlator for this study is reported here while the application of the correlation technique to some acoustic measurements is reported in a companion paper.

TEACHING ACOUSTICS USING AN ANALOG SYNTHESIZER

2022

Acoustic Surface Wave Analog Filters

1972 IEEE GMTT International Microwave Symposium, 1972
While the basic principles of surface wave device operation have been described previously, this paper describes the unification of this modeling information into a design synthesis procedure. Also, the excellent performance of the resulting devices is discussed. Emphasis is given to bandpass filters.

Acoustical analogs of condensed-matter problems

Reviews of Modern Physics, 2001
As a result of advances in experimental and theoretical physics, many interesting problems have arisen in condensed-matter physics, typically as a result of the quantum-mechanical nature of a system. Areas of interest include Anderson localization, universal conductance fluctuations, normal electron persistent currents, and the properties of ...
