Environmental assessment using acoustic complexity indicators
Global NEST International Conference on Environmental Science & Technology, 2022The procedure of sound recording offers new perspectives in ecology. Nevertheless, the existing tools that offer high resolution recordings are expensive. The use of acoustic indicators is proposed as an easy-to-use, rapid, non-intrusive, low-cost option in biodiversity assessment as well as in environmental noise management.

Separation of Cardiopulmonary Acoustic Indicators
2019 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/ Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE), 2019These studies demonstrate a combination of tested methods to separate lung and heart sound signals’ (LS-HS) principal components recorded using a digital dual stethoscope. Initially, when these raw signals are acquired, their principal components intertwine in the characteristics of the frequency and time domains.

An improved acoustic target is considered. Acoustic targets estimate the hit coordinates of a supersonic projectile using the time of arrival (TOA) of the supersonic shock wave at several acoustic transducers located in the vicinity of the target. An improved target allows oblique hits, likely in firing practices involving roaming infantry and armor ...

Acoustic and perceptual indicators of emotional stress
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983Tape recordings of telephone conversations of Consolidated Edison’s system operator (SO) and his immediate superior (CSO), beginning an hour before the 1977 New York blackout, were analyzed for indications of psychological stress. (SO was responsible for monitoring and switching power loads within the Con Ed network.) Utterances from the two ...
