Design of a New Acoustic Logging While Drilling Tool [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2021
To obtain qualified logging while drilling (LWD) data, a new acoustic LWD tool was designed. Its overall design is introduced here, including the physical construction, electronic structure, and operation flowchart.

Design of a Multi-Node Data Acquisition System for Logging-While-Drilling Acoustic Logging Instruments Based on FPGA

open access: yesSensors
The logging-while-drilling (LWD) acoustic logging instrument is pivotal in unconventional oil and gas exploration, and in providing real-time assessments of subsurface formations. The acquisition system, a core component of the LWD acoustic logging suite,

Research on acoustic logging while drilling transmitting technologies

open access: yesJournal of Geophysics and Engineering, 2022
Abstract Acoustic logging while drilling (LWD) technology plays an important role in oil and gas exploration and development. Compared to traditional wireline logging, LWD must address more additional crucial problems, such as great noise confusions.

Vibration and horizontal directivity analysis of transmitting transducer for acoustic logging while drilling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysics and Engineering, 2021
Abstract Radially polarized open-cylindrical piezoelectric transducers are widely used in the field of acoustic logging while drilling (LWD). Unlike the wireline logging transducer, the structure of the acoustic LWD transducer is an open structure; in this case, its radial vibration is accompanied by apparent circumferential vibration ...

Reflection signals and wellbore scattering waves in acoustic logging while drilling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysics and Engineering, 2020
Abstract In sonic logging while drilling (LWD), it is difficult to extract reflection signals for the goal of geo-steering as the wave fields are so complicated. It is important to analyse the reflection and scattering effects based on the synthetic acoustic signals of the real LWD models, while considering the medium discontinuity at ...

A theoretical analysis of the logging-while-drilling dipole acoustic reflection measurement

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Post-drilling wireline acoustic single-well imaging technology can now detect geological structures tens of meters away from boreholes. Further development of this single-well imaging technology in the logging-while-drilling (LWD) environment will have ...

Monopole Acoustic Logging While Drilling Acoustic Insulator Based on Labyrinthine Grooved Structure

open access: yesCejing jishu
In acoustic logging while drilling (ALWD), the presence of a thick-walled drill collar inspires significant amplitude drill collar waves, which will interfere with the measurement and acquisition of formation information.

Influence of the Transducer-Mounting Method on the Radiation Performance of Acoustic Sources Used in Monopole Acoustic Logging While Drilling

open access: yesSensors
Transducers used in acoustic logging while drilling (ALWD) must be mounted on a drill collar, and their radiation performance is dependent on the employed mounting method.

Higher order modes in acoustic logging while drilling [PDF]

open access: yesSEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2005, 2005
Summary In multipole acoustic logging while drilling (LWD), the fundamental modes dominate recorded waveforms. Higher order modes may also appear and complicate the processing of LWD data. In dipole LWD measurements, the dipole tool mode is often not well separated from the flexural mode. This makes the shear wave measurement more difficult.

Preliminary Numerical Simulation of Acoustic Reflection Imaging Logging While Drilling Based on the Vertical Incidence of Acoustic Waves on the Borehole Wall

open access: yesCejing jishu, 2023
The current acoustic reflection imaging logging while drilling (LWD) technology is affected by the interference of large amplitude borehole mode waves and the oblique incidence of acoustic waves on the borehole wall, resulting in a long propagation path ...
