Acoustic mapping velocimetry [PDF]

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2016
AbstractKnowledge of sediment dynamics in rivers is of great importance for various practical purposes. Despite its high relevance in riverine environment processes, the monitoring of sediment rates remains a major and challenging task for both suspended and bed load estimation.

Optimization of acoustic-to-articulatory mapping

[Proceedings] ICASSP-92: 1992 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1992
An optimization approach for estimating vocal tract configurations from the speech signal is presented. The scheme concatenates a gradient search and linear successive approximation, providing fast convergence and small errors. The objective function is generated by the least-absolute-value (l/sub 1/-norm) error between the model-derived and the speech-

Sonel mapping: acoustic modeling utilizing an acoustic version of photon mapping

Proceedings. Second International Conference on Creating, Connecting and Collaborating through Computing, 2005
Acoustic modeling of even small simple environments is a complex, computationally expensive task. Sound, just as light, is itself a wave phenomenon. Although there are several key differences between light and sound there are also several similarities. Given the similarities which exist between sound and light, this work investigates the application of

Development of a cardiac acoustic mapping system

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1998
The authors describe a cardiac acoustic mapping system designed to acquire, analyse, and display the amplitude distribution of a phonocardiogram (PCG) recorded from 22 sites on the thorax. A new PCG envelope detection approach, implemented by analogue circuits, enables simultaneous sampling of PCG envelopes from the 22 sites at a rate of 250 Hz/channel.

Acoustic Environmental Monitoring System for Acoustic Maps

2008 The Second International Conference on Mobile Ubiquitous Computing, Systems, Services and Technologies, 2008
In this work, it is developed a data acquisition and analysis system for the monitoring of acoustic environmental noises and the elaboration of dynamic acoustic maps. This project is based on the obtaining of acoustic data in different measure points, and it is formed by a mesh of connections based on GPRS NODES and a Software Server for the ...

On the Acoustic-to-Electropalatographic Mapping

2006
Electropalatography is a well established technique for recording information on the patterns of contact between the tongue and the hard palate during speech. It leads to a stream of binary vectors, called electropalatograms. We are interested in the mapping from the acoustic signal to electropalatographic information. We present results on experiments

Articulatory-to-acoustic mapping for inverse problem

Speech Communication, 1996
Abstract Mutual dependence of articulatory parameters allows the reducing of codebook volume and helps to improve conditions for global optimum search. The initial approximations of articulatory vectors for the inverse problem solving are sampled along the trajectories of articulatory parameters in synthesized syllables.
