Simulation Study on Acoustic Scattering Characteristics of a SCUBA Diver
2021 OES China Ocean Acoustics (COA), 2021Based on Kirchhoff approximation, a prediction method on the echo characteristics of a SCUBA diver was presented. Since a scuba diver needs to swing his large fins to overcome the water resistance caused by their diving equipment. As a result, the swing process of the fins may affect the backscattering characteristic significantly.

Research on underwater scattering acoustic characteristics of corner reflector
2017 10th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, BioMedical Engineering and Informatics (CISP-BMEI), 2017This report takes acoustic beam bouncing method to research inversed scattering acoustic fields of the underwater corner reflector. We calculate the target strength of the dihedral and the trihedral corner reflector, compare and analyze the target strength of square, triangular and circular trihedral corner reflector, including the influences of non ...

Acoustic scattering characteristics of pelagic and coastal nekton
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2014Measurements of several acoustic scattering characteristics were made for a variety of different nekton. At-sea broadband high-frequency (100s to 1000s kHz) backscatter measurements were made on several species of myctophids and other types of pelagic nekton (e.g. fish, shrimp). Animals were caught in mid-water trawls off the coast of Oregon during the

Guided Acoustic-Wave Brillouin Scattering Characteristics of Few-Mode Fiber
2014 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topical Meeting Series, 2014We experimentally investigate the modal dependence of the guided-acoustic wave Brillouin scattering (GAWBS) characteristics in a few-mode fiber (FMF). We clarify that launching higher-order modes into FMF induces different peak frequencies from those of single-mode fiber (SMF) in the GAWBS spectrum and that the GAWBS spectrum strongly depends on the ...

Simulation of Phase Characteristics of Underwater Target Acoustic Scattering
2019 IEEE International Conference on Signal, Information and Data Processing (ICSIDP), 2019Acoustic scattering phase of underwater target is one of the key scattering characteristics, which can be used as an extra parameter for target detection and an identifier for target identification. On the basis of analyzing and processing the simulation data of benchmark scaled model, the phase characteristics of acoustic scattering signals associated

Acoustic scattering characteristics of Penrose-tiling-type diffusers
Applied Acoustics, 2018Abstract Periodic surfaces involve strong dependence of incidence angle and frequency on scattering directivity, which can be harmful to auditory tonal impressions in room acoustics, while non-periodic surfaces have potential in yielding uniform directivity and moderate frequency characteristics.

Simulation and experimental studies on acoustic scattering characteristics of surface targets
Applied Acoustics, 2018Abstract Based on the Kirchhoff approximation, a prediction method on the echo characteristics of surface targets was presented, considering the reflection effect of water surface. Specifically, the performance of this proposed approach was evaluated with acoustic scattering by a rigid semi-submerged sphere.

Vertical structure of the acoustic characteristics of deep scattering layers in the ocean
Acoustical Physics, 2000Quantitative data on the vertical structure of the acoustic characteristics of deep scattering layers in the ocean are obtained for the first time from multiple full-scale measurements. The measurement procedure used to obtain the acoustic data for thousands of geographic points of the World Ocean in the frequency range from 3 to 20 kHz is briefly ...

Characteristics of surface scattering of very high frequency acoustic signals
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016Many applications of acoustics in harbors are characterized by relatively shallow sources and receivers and a sound speed profile that does not strongly refract signals away from the surface. Therefore, surface scattering is an important factor in determining the characteristics of propagating signals in harbor environments.

Characteristics of acoustic scattering from random fluctuation surface based on PM spectrum
2017 10th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, BioMedical Engineering and Informatics (CISP-BMEI), 2017This paper aims to study the acoustic scattering characteristics of one-dimension random fluctuation surface based on PM spectrum. Two-dimension random fluctuation surface based on PM spectrum is established using Monte Carlo method, and one-dimension random fluctuation surface is set up using the amplitude data of fluctuation surface between different
