Acoustic simulations of Mudejar-Gothic churches
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009In this paper, an iterative process is used in order to estimate the values of absorption coefficients of those materials of which little is known in the literature, so that an acoustic simulation can be carried out in Mudejar-Gothic churches. The estimation of the scattering coefficients, which is even less developed, is based on the size of the ...

Foetal phonocardiography is the passive recording of foetal heart sounds. It is a valuable alternative to existing expensive technologies like foetal electrocardiography, cardiotochography etc. for ensuring the wellbeing of the foetus. To test and validate foetal heart monitoring system based on phonocardiography, a foetal acoustic simulator model was ...

Acoustic Simulations of Combined Electric and Acoustic Hearing (EAS)
Ear and Hearing, 2005Our aim was to explore the consequences for speech understanding of leaving a gap in frequency between a region of acoustic hearing and a region stimulated electrically. Our studies were conducted with normal-hearing listeners, using an acoustic simulation of combined electric and acoustic (EAS) stimulation.Simulations of EAS were created by low-pass ...

Simulating acoustic waves in acoustic black hole analogues
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2022We present a physical model and a numerical method to simulate nonlinear acoustic waves emitted from moving boundaries in a moving background flow field with transition from subsonic to supersonic flow speeds. The physical model is based on a convective form of the Westervelt equation and accounts for the motion of the background medium and the ...

Simulating an acoustic recognizer
ICASSP '86. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005In this paper we describe a speech recognition simulator whose input is phonemic transcriptions and which produces scores that simulate the scores generated by a real acoustic recognizer. We used a phonemic distance metric to approximate acoustic distances. A dynamic programming algorithm was used to find the optimum match between phoneme strings based

Web-based geometric acoustic simulator
Proceedings of the 23rd International ACM Conference on 3D Web Technology, 2018Geometric acoustics is one of the most commonly used techniques for exploring what a virtual environment sounds like. These methods allow the user to place a sound source and receiver in a space and compute how the space influences what the receiver hears. These simulation methods are well-known, but most are proprietary or difficult to implement.

Matrix method for acoustic levitation simulation
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2011A matrix method is presented for simulating acoustic levitators. A typical acoustic levitator consists of an ultrasonic transducer and a reflector. The matrix method is used to determine the potential for acoustic radiation force that acts on a small sphere in the standing wave field produced by the levitator.

Accelerated wave-based acoustics simulation
Proceedings of the 2008 ACM symposium on Solid and physical modeling, 2008We present an efficient technique to model sound propagation accurately in an arbitrary 3D scene by numerically integrating the wave equation. We show that by performing an offline modal analysis and using eigenvalues from a refined mesh, we can simulate sound propagation with reduced dispersion on a much coarser mesh, enabling accelerated computation.

Simulation of naval platforms' acoustic signals
2012 20th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2012In this study, a simulation environment has been developed to simulate signal characteristics of both underwater ambient noise and naval vehicles. This simulation environment will be used to develop algorithms for detection and classification of different naval vehicles.
