Fast acoustic streaming in standing waves : Generation of an additional outer streaming cell [PDF]

open access: yes
Rayleigh streaming in a cylindrical acoustic standing waveguide is studied both experimentally and numerically for nonlinear Reynolds numbers from 1 to 30.

Acoustical Streaming in the Vicinity of a Sphere [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1955
Recent studies have led to a satisfactory understanding of the details of acoustical streaming in the vicinity of a cylinder. Similar studies have now been completed for a sphere. In general, the steady flow around a sphere and the characteristic parameters are very much like what has been found for the cylinder.

Frequency dependence of microflows upon acoustic interactions with fluids [PDF]

open access: yes
Rayleigh surface acoustic waves (SAWs), generated on piezoelectric substrates, can interact with liquids to generate fast streaming flows. Although studied extensively, mainly phenomenologically, the effect of the SAW frequency on streaming in fluids in ...

Compound micromachines powered by acoustic streaming [PDF]

open access: yes2019 International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), 2019
This paper presents the design, fabrication, and operation of compound micromachines powered by acoustic streaming. The machine components were directly incorporated around pillars serving as shafts without further assembly steps using a single-step in situ polymerization process controlled by a programmable projector. Two strategies were presented for

Two-dimensional numerical simulations of nonlinear acoustic streaming in standing waves [PDF]

open access: yes
Numerical simulations of compressible Navier–Stokes equations in closed two-dimensional channels are performed. A plane standing wave is excited inside the channel and the associated acoustic streaming is investigated for high intensity waves, in the ...

Acoustic Streaming in a Soft Tissue Microenvironment [PDF]

open access: yesUltrasound in Medicine & Biology, 2019
We demonstrated that sound can push fluid through a tissue-mimicking material. Although acoustic streaming in tissue has been proposed as a mechanism for biomedical ultrasound applications, such as neuromodulation and enhanced drug penetration, streaming in tissue or acoustic phantoms has not been directly observed.

Numerical investigation of acoustic streaming vortices in cylindrical tube arrays

open access: yesOpen Physics
Acoustic streaming has a significant effect on accelerating material mixing and flow field disturbance. To explore the characteristics of acoustic streaming in the cylindrical tube array field under the action of an acoustic wave, we derive the ...

Simulation of Ultrasonic Induced Cavitation and Acoustic Streaming in Liquid and Solidifying Aluminum

open access: yesMetals, 2020
Ultrasonic treatment (UST), more precisely, cavitation and acoustic streaming, of liquid light metal alloys is a very promising technology for achieving grain and structure refinement, and therefore, better mechanical properties.

Frequency effect on streaming phenomenon induced by Rayleigh surface acoustic wave in microdroplets [PDF]

open access: yes
Acoustic streaming of ink particles inside a water microdroplet generated by a surface acoustic wave(SAW) has been studied numerically using a finite volume numerical method and these results have been verified using experimental measurements. Effects of

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
