Dataset on permeability of wings from owls and non-silently flying birds

open access: yesData in Brief
The very soft and flow-permeable plumage is among the special adaptations of the owl that the silent flight is attributed to. Using a specially designed apparatus that provides a low-speed volume flow of air through a small sample of porous material ...

GEODYNAMIC WAVES AND GRAVITY

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
Gravity phenomena related to the Earth movements in the Solar System and through the Galaxy are reviewed. Such movements are manifested by geological processes on the Earth and correlate with geophysical fields of the Earth.

Ultrasound-assisted permeability improvement and acoustic characterization for solid-state fabricated PLA foams

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2013
In the present study, power ultrasound is applied to improve the permeability of the solid-state fabricated PLA foams with different cell sizes. It is experimentally proved that cell interconnection and the permeability is improved with the increasing of power ultrasound radiation intensity.

Protein Corona Formation on Soft Nanocarriers Under Biomimetic Circulatory Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A biomimetic venous circulation system is developed to study protein corona formation on soft nanocarriers under physiological shear. Liposomes, PLGA nanoparticles, and lipid‐polymer hybrid nanoparticles acquire largely shared but material‐dependent protein coronas that alter surface properties and suppress cellular uptake, highlighting the importance ...

Characterization of a high-sensitivity micromachined tunneling accelerometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
[[abstract]]We have fabricated successfully and tested a new micromachined tunneling accelerometer. This accelerometer is a prototype intended for underwater acoustics applications, and is required to feature micro-g resolution at frequencies between 5 ...

Smart and Sustainable Sizing: Investigating the Sensing Behavior of Glass Fabrics Coated With Waterborne Polyurethane/Graphene Dispersions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Waterborne polyurethane/graphene formulations are developed as piezoresistive coatings on glass fabric to enable flexible strain sensing. The graphene‐enabled conductive network provides a stable electromechanical response under cyclic compression. The coating demonstrates reliable pressure‐dependent resistance changes, highlighting its potential for ...

Derivation of an averaged model of isothermal acoustics in a heterogeneous medium in the case of two different poroelastic domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We consider some mathematical model of isothermal acoustics in a composite medium consisting of two different porous soils (poroelastic domains) separated by a common boundary.

Characterization of Droplet Formation in Ultrasonic Spray Coating: Influence of Ink Formulation Using Phase Doppler Anemometry and Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study explores how machine learning models, trained on small experimental datasets obtained via Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA), can accurately predict droplet size (D32) in ultrasonic spray coating (USSC). By capturing the influence of ink complexity (solvent, polymer, nanoparticles), power, and flow rate, the model enables precise droplet control

Acoustics of wet porous media with evaporation/condensation [PDF]

open access: yes
International audienceThis paper investigates acoustic wave propagation in wet rigid-frame porous media accounting for evaporation and condensation. At equilibrium, the solid walls are covered by a thin water film, and water vapor in the air is at its ...
