Acoustic-Birefringence-Induced Orthogonal Acousto-Optic Gratings in Grapefruit Microstructured Fibers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2013
The acousto-optic mode coupling in grapefruit microstructured optical fibers (GMOFs) has been investigated. Due to the presence of grape-like large air holes in the fiber cladding, unequal acoustic modulation is generated, and orthogonal acoustic ...

Three-dimensional photoacoustic imaging of subcutaneous microvasculature in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Three-dimensional photoacoustic imaging of subcutaneous microvasculature in small animals is realized in vivo using photoacoustic microscopy. Previously, degraded lateral resolution in the out-of-focus region made three-dimensional visualization ...

Asynchronous Phase Shifts are Effective for Interferometric Single‐Molecule Localization Microscopy

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
While interferometric Single‐Molecule Localization Microscopy (iSMLM) is well established to provide ultra‐high 3D precision, highly complex optical instrumentations are conventionally required for simultaneous multi‐phase interferometry. Here it is demonstrated that simultaneous multi‐phase interferometry is not essential for achieving ultra‐high ...

Non-reciprocal Optical Mirrors Based on Spatio-Temporal Modulation

open access: yes, 2017
The recent surge of interest in temporal modulation schemes to induce magnet-free non-reciprocity has inspired several exciting opportunities for photonic technology. Here, we investigate a scheme to realize free-space isolators and highly non-reciprocal

High‐Sensitivity, High‐Resolution Stimulated Raman Photoacoustic Spectroscopy Enabled by Continuous‐Wave Intracavity Pump‐Stokes Beams

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
High‐sensitivity, high‐resolution stimulated Raman photoacoustic spectroscopy is achieved by coupling continuous‐wave pump and Stokes beams to a high‐finesse optical cavity. This approach successfully resolves the narrow Raman rotational transition S0(0) of H2 with sub‐kHz spectral resolution and attains an unprecedented sensitivity of 0.5 ppm using ...

Displacement operators: the classical face of their quantum phase

open access: yes, 2017
In quantum mechanics, the operator representing the displacement of a system in position or momentum is always accompanied by a path-dependent phase factor.

A Large Magneto‐Optical Trap of Cadmium Atoms Loaded From a Cryogenic Buffer Gas Beam

open access: yesNatural Sciences, EarlyView.
We demonstrate laser cooling and trapping of cadmium atoms using deep‐ultraviolet light at 229 nm, capturing more than 1×107$1\times10^{7}$ atoms within 10 ms from a compact 5 cm Zeeman slower and cryogenic beam source. We achieve peak densities of 2.5×1011cm−3$2.5\times10^{11} \,\text{cm}^{-3}$ and phase‐space densities of 2×10−9$2\times10^{-9}$.

Textile‐Based Ti3C2 MXene Capacitor by Laser Ablation Patterning

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
It is shown here that laser ablation can be effectively employed to pattern Ti3C2 MXene electrodes on TPU‐coated cotton fabric, creating high‐performance textile‐based capacitors. This technique allows for sub‐millimeter resolution, ensuring a compact and flexible design suitable for wearable applications.
