We describe an acousto-optical spectrometer consisting of a Bragg cell made of singlecrystal quartz. Spectral range of 420-780 nm and resolution of 0.2 nm is achieved. Applications in the monitoring of plasma-assisted material treatment are described.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1975
Experimental observation of acousto-optic moiré phenomena is reported. The experiment employs optical phase gratings generated by high-frequency (0.5–2 MHz) acoustic tonebursts propagating in a transparent water tank. Two or more superposed gratings are observed by means of an optical, stroboscopic, scanning schlieren imaging system.

Acousto-optic transmultiplexer
SPIE Proceedings, 1994ABSTRACTThis paper reports on the system concept, design and hardware analysis of a wideband transmultiplexer implemented with acousto-optic technology. The objective of the study was to determine the feasibility of constructing a unit that would convert a20 MHz analog IF band of 5000 contiguous frequency multiplexed 4 kHz channels to a time division ...

In the preceding chapter, we have shown that modulators and switches can be made by using the electro-optic effect to produce a grating-shaped variation of the index of refraction within the waveguide. This grating structure causes diffraction of the guided optical waves, resulting in modulation or switching.
