Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Dual Mach-Zehnder Interferometer Based on DCF and FCF for Temperature and Strain Measurement

open access: yesPhotonic Sensors
In this paper, a dual Mach-Zehnder interferometer for measuring both temperature and strain is proposed and verified by experiments. The sensor configuration involves cascading a four-core fiber and a double-clad fiber between two single-mode fibers.

Remote Low-Coherence Fiber Vibrometer With Wide Dynamic Range

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
We present a remote low-coherence fiber vibrometer, which is composed of a hybrid configuration of Mach-Zehnder and Sagnac interferometer. In the interferometer, the signal and reference beams travel along the same path but in opposite directions.

Emerging Linguistic Functions in Early Infancy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper presents results from experimental studies on early language acquisition in infants and attempts to interpret the experimental results within the framework of the Ecological Theory of Language Acquisition (ETLA) recently proposed by (Lacerda ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Optical bistability via an external control field in all-fiber ring cavity

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
We demonstrate a new scheme for realizing the Optical Bistability (OB) inside an all-fiber ring cavity with an external control field. In the absence of the external control field, the pump power is fixed below the threshold value of laser, and there is ...

Topographic Correction of ZY-3 Satellite Images and Its Effects on Estimation of Shrub Leaf Biomass in Mountainous Areas

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2014
The availability of ZY-3 satellite data provides additional potential for surveying, mapping, and quantitative studies. Topographic correction, which eliminates the terrain effect caused by the topographic relief, is one of the fundamental steps in data ...

Combining impedance biosensor with immunomagnetic separation for rapid screening of Salmonella in poultry supply chains

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2020
Salmonella screening is a key to ensure food safety in poultry supply chains. Currently available Salmonella detection methods including culture, polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay could not achieve rapid, sensitive, and in ...

The Total Acquisition Number of the Randomly Weighted Path

open access: yes, 2016
There exists a significant body of work on determining the acquisition number $a_t(G)$ of various graphs when the vertices of those graphs are each initially assigned a unit weight.

Two-Stage Code Acquisition Employing Search Space Reduction and Iterative Detection in the DS-UWB Downlink [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
—In this paper we propose and investigate an iterative code acquisition scheme assisted by both search space reduction and iterative Massage Passing (MP), which was designed for the Direct Sequence-Ultra WideBand (DS-UWB) DownLink (DL).
