Sarocladium and Acremonium infections: New faces of an old opportunistic fungus

Mycoses (Berlin), 2020
The genera Acremonium and Sarocladium comprise a high diversity of morphologically and genetically related fungi generally found in the environment, although a few species, mainly Sarocladium kiliense and Acremonium egyptiacum, can also be involved in ...

Colonization of endophyte Acremonium sp. D212 in Panax notoginseng and rice mediated by auxin and jasmonic acid.

Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2020
Endophytic fungi can be beneficial to plant growth. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying colonization of Acremonium spp. remain unclear. In this study, a novel endophytic Acremonium strain was isolated from the buds of Panax notoginseng and named

Acremonium with catenate elongate conidia: phylogeny of Acremonium fusidioides and related species

Mycologia, 2014
Acremonium is one of the largest and most complex genera of hyphomycetes. Its taxonomy is not yet resolved and the phylogenetic value of the most distinctive morphological features is unknown. The species of this genus produce conidia in chains or form slimy heads or both.

Cutaneous infection due to acremonium

Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, 1998
AbstractWe report an immunocompromised patient who developed a cutaneous infection caused by acremonium which is a rare opportunistic fungi. With the increasing number of immunocompromised patients opportunistic fungal infection can cause serious diseases and early recognition is mandatory.

Taxonomy of Penicillium and Acremonium [PDF]

open access: possible, 1987
The fungi form one of the largest groups of organisms, comprising some 65,000 species. They vary from the larger bracket fungi and toadstools to the common soil fungi or recycling organisms. The latter play an important ecological role in breaking down dead plant and animal materials and returning them to the soil.

Acremonium infection in a neutropenic patient

Journal of Infection, 1992
Acremonium species (previously Cephalosporium) are saprophytic moulds of low pathogenicity commonly found in the environment. We report a case of repeated acremonium fungaemia in a neutropenic patient, probably associated with a Hickman line. Fungaemia was accompanied by fever and a papular skin rash, both of which appeared to resolve when the ...
