Performance of Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry for Identification of Scedosporium, Acremonium-Like, Scopulariopsis, and Microascus Species

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has emerged as a powerful microorganism identification tool. Research on MALDI-TOF MS identification of rare filamentous fungi is still lacking.

Skin ulcerative lesion induced by Acremonium species

open access: yesPrzegląd Dermatologiczny, 2023
Acremonium (Cephalosporium) species are environmentally widespread saprophytes and considered ubiquitous fungal organisms found in soil and air, but in recent years they have been described increasingly as opportunistic microorganisms in immunocompetent

Oxidation of ethane by an Acremonium species [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1976
Ethane oxidation was studied in ethane-grown resting cells (mycelia) of an Acremonium sp. and in cell-free preparations of such mycelia. From resting cell experiments evidence was found for a pathway of ethane oxidation via ethanol, acetaldehyde, and acetic acid.

Rapid identification ofAcremonium loliiandAcremonium coenophialumendophytes through arbitrarily primed PCR [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1995
Using a random decamer 5'-CCGAGGTGAC-3' in an arbitrarily primed PCR, similar band patterns were observed between Acremonium lolii and A. coenophialum DNA, which were somewhat different from those formed by other fungal DNA. Despite sharing bands of around 0.7, 0.9 and 2.1 kb, A. lolii can be distinguished from A.

A case ofAcremonium strictumperitonitis [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Mycology, 2008
During the past two decades opportunistic fungal infections have emerged as important causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with severe underlying illnesses. A few cases of Acremonium spp. infections have been described in immunocompromised patients, but they have on occasion been reported as the cause invasive disease in immunocompetent ...
