Concentrations, sources, and biological consumption of acrylate and DMSP in the tropical Pacific and coral reef ecosystem in Mo’orea, French Polynesia

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
Shallow-water coral reefs hold large quantities of acrylate and its precursor dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP), but production and removal processes for these compounds are poorly characterized.

Larval dispersal patterns and connectivity of Acropora on Florida’s Coral Reef and its implications for restoration

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
Since the 1980s, populations of Acropora cervicornis and A. palmata have experienced severe declines due to disease and anthropogenic stressors; resulting in their listing as threatened, and their need for restoration.

CONDITION OF CORAL REEFS IN THE WATERS OF PANDANGAN ISLAND [PDF]

open access: yesRussian Journal of Agricultural and Socio-Economic Sciences, 2023

Coral spawning patterns of Acropora across two Maldivian reef ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2023
Understanding patterns in coral reproductive biology at local and regional scales is crucial to elucidate our knowledge of characteristics that regulate populations and communities.

Two divergent haplogroups of a sacsin-like gene in Acropora corals

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Reef-building corals are declining due to environmental changes. Sacsin is a member of the heat shock proteins and has been reported as a candidate protein associated with the stress response in Acropora corals.

Is Acropora Palmata recovering? A case study in Los Roques National Park, Venezuela [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Eight years ago (2007), the distribution and status of Acropora palmata was quantified throughout Los Roques archipelago in Venezuela. The aim was to produce a baseline study for this species which combined population genetics with demographic data.

Endozoicomonas acroporae sp. nov., isolated from Acropora coral

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2017
Strain Acr-14T, isolated from Acropora coral, was characterized by using a polyphasic taxonomy approach. Cells of strain Acr-14T were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile, poly-β-hydroxybutyrate-accumulating, rod-shaped and formed creamy white colonies. Optimal growth occurred at 30 °C, pH 7 and in the presence of 2 % NaCl.

New records of coral diseases in the Persian Gulf

open access: yesJournal of Threatened Taxa, 2019
We report first observations of three coral diseases including black band disease on Acropora, a syndrome resembling yellow band disease and red band disease on Porites colonies from depth 5–6 m at Abu-Musa Island  after widespread coral bleaching in the

Comparison of two reef sites on the north coast of Jamaica over a 15-year period [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper compares two reef sites near Discovery Bay, Jamaica, Dairy Bull and Dancing Lady, from 2000 to 2015. At Dairy Bull reef, with low macroalgal cover (8% in 2002 falling to 1% in 2015) and significant number of Diadema antillarum urchins (c.

Acropora cervicornis and Acropora palmata cultured on a low maintenance line nursery design in The Bahamas.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Acroporid corals are one of the most important corals in the Caribbean because of their role in building coral reefs. Unfortunately, Acropora corals have suffered a severe decline in the last 50 years thus prompting the development of many restoration ...
