Tetrahydrofurfuryl Methacrylate and Isobornyl Acrylate: Possible New Sensitisers in Hearing Aid Ear Moulds

A case series of eight patients with allergic otitis externa from contact allergy to hearing aid ear moulds is presented. All were patch test positive to tetrahydrofurfuryl methacrylate and three to isobornyl acrylate. It is postulated that these are likely relevant allergens present in such devices. Flexo‐printable glucomannan‐based biofilm

Abstract Biofilms were synthesised from glucomannan and xylan. The ratio of glucomannan: xylan varied from 90:10 (g/g) to 70:30 (g/g). Nanofibrillated cellulose was added to enhance the mechanical properties of the biofilms. In another approach, glucomannan/xylan suspensions were crosslinked with tartaric acid (TA) or citric acid (CA).
