AbstractThe performance of styrene‐acrylonitrile copolymers under alternating stresses has been examined. Information has been obtained concerning the influence of acrylonitrile content and of molecular weight on thermal effects due to hysteresis, on cyclic lifetime to craze initiation, on average cycles to fracture, and on fatigue fracture surface ...

characterized by a high dielectric constant ( 0 ) at low frequency and high temperature. In addition, the dielectric loss (tan ) showed a frequency dependent relaxational peak for all samples. Moreover, the temperature dependence of the AC conductivity was investigated for all samples, and the values of the activation energy were estimated.

The resistance of polymers, with toughening agents, to fast crack propagation under steady load conditions was studied, and the fracture resistance of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) was compared with styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN). Small laboratory specimens were used which could be precisely loaded and allowed to stress relax before being ...

Fracture analysis of acrylonitrile‐butadiene‐styrene resins
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1982AbstractThe fracture properties of three grades of acrylonitrile‐buta‐diene‐styrene(ABS) were evaluated and compared. In preliminary studies, J1c (J integral) results obtained using the Begley and Landes procedure for single‐edge‐notched tension specimens and compact tension specimens were compared to establish the validity of the J1c criterion.
