By evaluating multipole susceptibility of a seven-orbital impurity Anderson model with the use of a numerical renormalization group method, we discuss possible multipole states of actinide dioxides at low temperatures.

Systematics of Fission Barriers in Superheavy Elements [PDF]
We investigate the systematics of fission barriers in superheavy elements in the range Z = 108-120 and N = 166-182. Results from two self-consistent models for nuclear structure, the relativistic mean-field (RMF) model as well as the non-relativistic ...

Acid Resistant and Highly Silver Selective Membranes Based on Charged Nanoporous 2D‐Materials
In this work, new membranes based on charged & nanoporous nanosheets with unprecedented selectivity to silver versus a wide range of other metallic ions are reported. Furthermore, a demonstrated and lead specific intralamellar lead pathway is demonstrated. A potential applicability for ubiquitous silver in WEEE is validated.

Unusually low metal–ligand bond orders are observed in high spin iron(II) pnictogenidene (PH2– and AsH2–) complexes. Electronic structure analysis provides evidence for multiconfigurational character that attenuates the metal–ligand multiple bond character normally that is typically associated with pnictogenidene ligands. These complexes can be used to

Synthesis of Mixed Actinide Oxides Using Microwave Radiation
A method has been developed for producing mixed actinide oxides suitable for fabricating mixed nitride uranium plutonium fuel for fast neutron reactors. The method is based on the use of microwave radiation for the direct denitration of actinide nitrate ...

Strong Correlations in Actinide Redox Reactions
Reduction-oxidation (redox) reactions of the redox couples An(VI)/An(V), An(V)/An(IV), and An(IV)/An(III), where An is an element in the family of early actinides (U, Np, and Pu), as well as Am(VI)/Am(V) and Am(V)/Am(III), are modeled by combining ...

On the double and triple-humped fission barriers and half-lives of actinide elements [PDF]
The deformation barriers standing in the quasi-molecular shape path have been determined in the actinide region within a macroscopic-microscopic energy derived from a generalized liquid drop model, the algebraic droplet model shell corrections and ...

Noble gases and nitrogen in material from asteroid Bennu
Abstract We report the elemental and isotopic abundances of all stable noble gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) in eight particles from asteroid Bennu returned by NASA's OSIRIS‐REx mission. We also report nitrogen abundances and isotopic ratios that were analyzed alongside neon and argon in four additional Bennu particles.

Activation of Water by Pentavalent Actinide Dioxide Cations: Characteristic Curium Revealed by a Reactivity Turn after Americium. [PDF]
Swapping of an oxygen atom of water with that of a pentavalent actinide dioxide cation, AnO2+ also called an "actinyl", requires activation of an An-O bond. It was previously found that such oxo exchange in the gas phase occurs for the first two actinyls,
