Two New Species of Saurauia (Actinidiaceae) from Mexico

Systematic Botany, 1981
Two new species of Saurauia from Mexico are described, illustrated, and compared to their relatives. Saurauia madrensis occurs in cloud forests and Liquidambar forests of the Sierra Madre in Chiapas. Saurauia cana is found in wet forest habitats north of the trans-Mexican volcanic belt in the Sierra Madre Oriental.

Restriction fragment length polymorphisms in the genusActinidia (Actinidiaceae)

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1990
A series of chloroplast and nuclear probes were used to examine restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) in kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa) and three of its closest relatives. The four species fell into two pairs, withA. chinensis andA. deliciosa closely related but some distance away from the other two species,A. latifolia andA. eriantha. The

Isolation and characterization of microsatellite markers from Clematoclethra scandens (Actinidiaceae)

American Journal of Botany, 2012
• Premise of the study: Microsatellite makers were developed for Clematoclethra scandens to investigate its population genetics and speciation.• Methods and Results: A total of 36 microsatellite markers were isolated using the Fast Isolation by AFLP of Sequences COntaining repeats (FIASCO) method.

DNA barcoding of Actinidia (Actinidiaceae) using internal transcribed spacer, matK, rbcL and trnH-psbA, and its taxonomic implication

New Zealand Journal of Botany, 2018
Actinidia is taxonomically difficult and economically important. Four traditional barcoding markers, internal transcribed spacer (ITS), rbcL, matK and trnH-psbA, were used to identify the 29 Actinidia species sampled.

Cross-species amplification of microsatellite loci within the dioecious, polyploid genus Actinidia (Actinidiaceae)

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2005
Microsatellite marker transfer across species in the dioecious genus Actinidia (kiwifruit) could offer an efficient and time-effective technique for use during trait transfer for vine and fruit improvement in breeding programmes. We evaluated the cross-species amplification of 20 EST-derived microsatellite markers that were fully informative in an ...

Floral Biology of Two Species of Actinidia (Actinidiaceae). II. Early Embryology

Botanical Gazette, 1988
The ovules of kiwifruit, Actinidia deliciosa and A. chinensis var. chinensis, are axile, anatropous, unitegmic, and tenuinucellate. Megasporogenesis in the two species is similar, but at the tetrad stage, only the chalazal megaspore in A. chinensis develops, while in A. deliciosa any of the four megaspores may function.

New reports of chromosome numbers inActinidia(Actinidiaceae)

New Zealand Journal of Botany, 1997
Abstract Chromosome numbers are reported for the first time for seven taxa of Actinidia: A. arguta var. purpurea, 2n = 8x = c. 232; A. deliciosa var. chlorocarpa, 2n = 6x= 174; A. deliciosa var. coloris, 2n = 6x = 174; A. glaucophylla, 2n = 2x = 58; A. guilinensis, 2n = 2x = 58; A. indochinensis, 2n = 2x = 58 and A. setosa 2n = 2x = 58.
