Regulation of poly-GlcNAc expression and fimbriation in uropathogenic "E. coli" [PDF]
The transition of planktonic to sessile lifestyles in bacteria rests upon a tightly controlled program that gets triggered by the environmental composition and whose implementation requires multiple feedback controls. Uropathogenic E.

Clinical significance and taxonomy of Actinobacillus hominis.
Clinical findings in 36 immunosuppressed patients with lower respiratory tract infection or bacteremia with Actinobacillus hominis are described. Animal contact was only recorded for three patients; nine patients died despite appropriate antimicrobial ...

Characterisation of gene expression and virulence factors in Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae
Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is a Gram-negative bacterium causing the highly infectious disease porcine pleuropneumonia and is responsible for global financial losses to the swine industry every year. Though the virulence of A.

Three studies, a pilot study with conventional early-weaned pigs and two studies with gnotobiotic pigs were completed. The piolot study indicated that conventional pigs could be challeneged with at least 107 colony forming units (cfu) or Actinobacillus ...

Transmission of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae in pigs is characterized by variation in infectivity
Ten transmission trials with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae were carried out. The observed transmission was highly variable, which was surprising since the design of the trials was very similar. We investigated whether the variable transmission could be explained by variation in infectivity of A. pleuropneumoniae infected pigs.

Actinobacillus equuli Septicemia: an Unusual Zoonotic Infection
We describe the isolation of Actinobacillus equuli from the blood of a 53-year-old butcher with septicemia. This species of the genus Actinobacillus is primarily associated with animals and animal diseases, especially septicemia in foals.

Identification and characterization of serovar-independent immunogens in Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae [PDF]
Despite numerous actions to prevent disease, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (A. pleuropneumoniae) remains a major cause of porcine pleuropneumonia, resulting in economic losses to the swine industry worldwide.
