Synergistic Bioconversion of Date Palm Leaves Into Ruminant Feed by a Leopard Moth (Zeuzera pyrina L.) Gut Bacterial Consortium and Nutrient Stimulators

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Treating date palm leaves with a bacterial consortium, especially when supplemented with glucose and urea, significantly degrades lignin. This process enhances nutritional value by increasing crude protein, digestibility, and metabolizable energy. The method effectively transforms this agricultural by‐product into a viable ruminant feed.

Recent Progressions in Applications of Bioactive Polysaccharides in Food and Health Sciences: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Polysaccharides play a pivotal role in the development of safe and healthy foods. They ameliorate fatigue, preserve the microflora of the gastrointestinal tract, and provide health for the gut in living organisms. These biopolymers are applied for the fabrication of breakthrough drug delivery systems and potential platforms in regenerative medicine ...

Nexus of Whey Proteins, Gut Dysbiosis, and Colonic Health

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Whey proteins possess antimicrobial and prebiotic properties that modulate gut microbiota by promoting beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacterium while suppressing pathogens. This modulation enhances short‐chain fatty acid production and strengthens intestinal barrier integrity, potentially alleviating dysbiosis‐related conditions such as colitis and ...

Wild Prunus cerasifera Ehrh. Polyphenols Alleviate Hyperglycemia in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Mice via Modulating Gut Microbiota‐SCFAs‐PI3K/Akt/TBC1D4 Pathway

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
WPPE treatment significantly alleviated type 2 diabetes by improving SCFAs and gut microbiota composition and promoted glycogen synthesis by regulating the PI3K/AKT/TBC1D4 pathway. WPPE also improved liver function and reduced oxidative stress and inflammation. ABSTRACT Our previous work demonstrated that wild Prunus cerasifera Ehrh.

The Effect of Synthetic Cow Urine on Microorganisms and Their Potential Phosphorus Mining Activity in Rhizosphere and Bulk Soil

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 189, Issue 1, Page 69-80, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and aims Soil microbes adapt to varying nutrient inputs by modifying their utilization strategies, with root exudates and animal urine serving as key carbon (C) and nutrient sources in grasslands. Nonetheless, the specific mechanisms by which cow urine and root exudates influence microbial community and resource utilization remain ...
