Formigas visitantes de inflorescências de Actinocephalus polyanthus (Bong.) Sano (Eriocaulaceae) [PDF]

open access: yesBiotemas, 2013
Plantas da família Eriocaulaceae apresentam uma secreção de néctar em estruturas florais que promove a visitação de insetos, inclusive formigas. Este estudo avaliou as espécies de formigas visitantes de inflorescências de Actinocephalus polyanthus em ...

Morphological architecture of Actinocephalus (Koern.) Sano (Eriocaulaceae-Poales)

open access: yesFlora - Morphology, Distribution, Functional Ecology of Plants, 2008
Abstract Actinocephalus exhibits perhaps more diversity in habit than any other genus of Eriocaulaceae. This variation is largely a result of differences in the arrangement of the paraclades. Based on the analysis of stem architecture of all 25 species of Actinocephalus , the following patterns were established: (1) leaf rosette, with no elongated

Embryology and Seed Development of Paepalanthus sect. Actinocephalus (Koern.) Ruhland (Eriocaulaceae)

open access: yesPlant Biology, 2001
Abstract: The embryology and seed structure of Paepalanthus sect. Actinocephalus species were studied. The embryological and structural seed characters fit well with those of the other commelinaceous families. Within the Commelinales sensu Dahlgren, Eriocaulaceae and Xyridaceae represent two embryologically close families.

Intracellular papillae of Actinocephalus (Eriocaulaceae-Poales) roots and their interaction with fungi: A light and transmission electron microscopy study

open access: yesMicron, 2007
The genus Actinocephalus comprises 25 species and is restricted to Brazil, occurring mainly in the Espinhaço Mountains of Minas Gerais and Bahia States. Previous anatomical studies have reported the occurrence of intracellular papillae in the Actinocephalus roots, without dealing with their ultrastructure and function.

Inflorescences of the Bromeliad Vriesea friburgensis as Nest Sites and Food Resources for Ants and Other Arthropods in Brazil

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
For the first time, the usage of bromeliad inflorescences as nesting sites for ants and other arthropods was studied. Frequencies of occurrence of nests were recorded from hollow stems of dried infructescences of the bromeliad Vriesea friburgensis on Santa Catarina Island, southern Brazil.
