Actinomycetoma by Actinomadura madurae . Clinical and therapeutic characteristics of 18 cases with two treatment modalities

open access: yesJournal of Dermatological Treatment, 2020
Actinomycetoma due to Actinomadura madurae is susceptible to numerous chemotherapeutic agents, however, the response to those treatments is variable and closely related to several factors. We aimed to evaluate the clinical-therapeutic characteristics of patients with actinomycetoma due to Actinomadura madurae with two treatment modalities. This was a ...

Actinomadura madurae causing mycetomas in Madras.

open access: yesIndian journal of pathology & microbiology, 1992
Two hundred and ten histologically diagnosed cases of mycetoma filed in the Departments of Pathology of four Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu, India, between 1964-1987 were subjected to detailed histopathological study; Actinomadura madurae, was found in 73 of them. In nine cases of mycetoma pedis, the organism A.

[Actinomycotic mycetoma due to Actinomadura madurae].

open access: yesRevista chilena de infectologia : organo oficial de la Sociedad Chilena de Infectologia, 2014
Mycetoma is a chronic, granulomatous, subcutaneous, inflammatory lesion caused by true fungi (eumycetoma) or filamentous bacteria (actinomycetoma). Mycetoma commonly affects young people between 20 and 40 years old. The most common affected site is the foot. The characteristic clinical triad is tumefaction, draining sinuses and discharging grains.

Identification of a new strain of Actinomadura isolated from Saharan soil and partial characterization of its antifungal compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
One promising strain Actinomadura sp. AC170, isolated from Algerian Saharan soil, with strong antifungal activity against pathogenic and toxinogenic fungi, was selected for further studies. The 16S rRNA results showed a distinct phylogenetic lineage from

The development of an Actinomadura madurae grain model in Galleria mellonella larvae

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Microbiology
Mycetoma is a neglected tropical disease characterized by large tumorous lesions. It can be caused by fungi (eumycetoma) or bacteria (actinomycetoma). The hallmark of mycetoma is the formation of grains by the causative agent. Grains can only be formed in vivo; therefore, in vivo models are crucial to studying mycetoma.

Simaomicin (LL-D42067), a novel antibiotic from actinomadura madurae. I. Taxonomy, fermentation and biological activity.

open access: yesThe Journal of Antibiotics, 1990
A new antibacterial antibiotic, designated simaomicin alpha (LL-D42067 alpha) was isolated from the fermentation broth of an actinomycete strain. Based on cultural, physiological, morphological and chemical characteristics, culture LL-D42067 was identified as a new subspecies of Actinomadura madurae.
