Hevea brasiliensis seeds: A novel sustainable feedstock for ethanol production

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Chemistry, EarlyView.
Abstract The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is cultivated on a large scale mainly for the extraction of latex in Brazil and Southeast Asia, also generating large quantities of seeds. These seeds currently do not have large‐scale applications and may thus be considered as a residue.

A Comparative Study of the Removal of Heavy Metal Ions from Synthetic Wastewaters Using Different Adsorbents

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2009
A comparison has been made of the efficiency of heavy metal ion adsorption from synthetic wastewaters by charcoal prepared locally from the burnt remnants of plantain peel with more conventional adsorbents such as industrial activated wood charcoal ...

Using programmable infusion pump in avian species – a validation methodology in geese

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Wildlife face anthropogenic and natural stressors that affect their physiology and behaviour. The activity of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis and glucocorticoid (GC) production is intrinsically linked with energy regulation and environmental stressors.

Utilization of Roselle charcoal as nitrate-nitrogen adsorbent [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2006
Recently, the attempts have been made by utilizing natural material as an adsorbent for wastewater treatment due to its low cost, low energy requirement and the fewer chemicals used. In this study, Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L. var.

Crystal Structures, Raman Spectra, and Thermal Analysis of Cobalt(III) Ammine Coordination Compounds in the Context of Battery Materials

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
A series of Co(III) ammine coordination compounds, which are potential precursors for battery materials, were synthesized and characterized by X‐ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and thermal analysis. These methods provide complementary insight into structural motifs and decomposition behavior as well as an easy way to identify Co(III) complexes ...

Ammonia-Activated Charcoal

open access: yesThe Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry, Japan, 1964

Environmentally induced stress affects fitness of bold and shy alike: A long‐term study of personality and feather corticosterone in Arctic‐breeding kittiwakes

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Quantifying how individuals differ as their environment changes around them is crucial to predict population responses to climate change. By incorporating personality, physiology and life‐history the authors show that while environmental change is likely to impact the whole population equally, when individuals are most impacted will vary across the ...
