Detection Techniques for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Their Metabolites: A Review

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 223, Issue 17, 9 September 2026.
Overview of the different techniques that can be used to detect polyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their metabolites. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a class of organic pollutants affecting the environment as well as individual health that has been linked to various diseases including cancer.

Next‐Generation Water Treatment With Molybdenum Disulfide: Dual‐Functionality in Pollutant Adsorption and Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 17, 3 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has attracted attention as a promising material due to the growing demand for environmentally friendly, cost‐effective, and efficient water treatment techniques. With its physicochemical characteristics, this stratified bidimensional material allows it to be highly effective in adsorption and catalytic performance ...

Liquid‐phase oxidation of furfural catalyzed by magnetically separable metal oxide nanoparticles deposited on silica gel

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 20, Issue 5, Page 2096-2105, September/October 2026.
Abstract Oxidation of furfural (FF), a bio‐based platform chemical, was investigated using a range of iron‐, vanadium‐ and iron–zinc‐oxalates supported on silica gel (FeVOx@silica and FeZnOx@silica, respectively) as precursor for FeV@silica and FeZn@silica oxide catalysts and H2O2 as a green oxidant.

Bartter Syndrome With Normal Aldosterone Level and Acute Pancreatitis: An Unusual Presentation

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Bartter syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive renal tubulopathy, which classically presents with hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis, hyperreninemia, and hyperaldosteronism. We report an atypical presentation in a 16‐year‐old male who was diagnosed following an initial manifestation of acute pancreatitis.

Natural South African iron‐rich sand as a functional catalyst in hybrid photocatalytic wet peroxide oxidation technology for the degradation of methyl orange dye pollutant

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 9, Page 4829-4840, September 2026.
This research explored South African iron‐rich sand (SAIRS) as a natural catalyst for light‐mediated wet peroxide oxidation of methyl orange dye in wastewater and at an optimized of conditions of 3500 mg/L catalyst dose, 6 mM H2O2, and pH 2.5, SAIRS achieved 94% methyl orange degradation within 90 min under visible light.
