Influence of copper nanoparticles on the physical-chemical properties of activated sludge.
The physical-chemical properties of activated sludge, such as flocculating ability, hydrophobicity, surface charge, settleability, dewaterability and bacteria extracellular polymer substances (EPS), play vital roles in the normal operation of wastewater ...

Reductive conversion of CO2 to formic acid with waste silicon reducing agent catalyzed by in situ generation of active fluoride species from a tertiary amine, protonic acid, and simple inorganic fluoride salt, such as KF and NaF. ABSTRACT The activation and catalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) using silicon‐based reducing agents is an important ...

Abstract The objective of this work is to demonstrate that the inclusion of an up‐flow anaerobic sludge bed (UASB reactor) within an industrial wastewater treatment plant reduces the plant's investment and operating costs compared to a system based solely on conventional complete‐mix activated sludge (CMAS), operating under the same design principles ...

Biological excess phosphorus removal in activated sludge systems
Includes bibliographies. When this investigation was commenced in 1983 two activated sludge systems had been developed in South Africa that accomplish biological excess phosphorus (P) removal, the UCT and modified Bardenpho systems.

Purely ultrasonic enzyme extraction from activated sludge in an ultrasonic cleaning bath
Enzymes are important in biological wastewater treatment systems, since they are responsible for breakdown of macro- and micropollutants, thereby making the pollutants available for metabolism.

This research explored South African iron‐rich sand (SAIRS) as a natural catalyst for light‐mediated wet peroxide oxidation of methyl orange dye in wastewater and at an optimized of conditions of 3500 mg/L catalyst dose, 6 mM H2O2, and pH 2.5, SAIRS achieved 94% methyl orange degradation within 90 min under visible light.

Abstract This study proposes a novel, green, and sustainable method for synthesizing magnetic iron oxides from metallurgical copper slag (CS), leveraging its iron content as a valuable resource. Iron was extracted via acid leaching using edible citric acid (ECA), forming a citrate–iron complex (CSL), which was subsequently thermally decomposed at 300°C
