Active listening

open access: yesHearing Research, 2020
AbstractThis paper introduces active listening, as a unified framework for synthesising and recognising speech. The notion ofactive listeninginherits from active inference, which considers perception and action under one universal imperative: to maximise the evidence for our (generative) models of the world.

Emission Knots and Polarization Swings of Swinging Jets

open access: yesGalaxies, 2016
Knots (emission features in jets of active galactic nuclei) often show non-ballistic dynamics and variable emission/polarization properties. We model these features as emission pattern propagating in a jet that carries a helical magnetic field and is ...

ACE2 ACTIVATION PROMOTES ANTITHROMBOTIC ACTIVITY

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2009
Hyperactivity of the axis ACE/AngII/AT1R of the renin‐angiotensin system is associated with occurrence of acute thrombotic event. Recently a novel concept of a counterrugulatory axis, ACE2/Ang‐(1‐7)/Mas, has emerged. We hypothesized that ACE2 would be protective against thrombosis.

Endurance Performance During Severe-Intensity Intermittent Cycling: Effect of Exercise Duration and Recovery Type

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2016
Slow component of oxygen uptake (VO2SC) kinetics and maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) attainment seem to influence endurance performance during constant-work rate exercise (CWR) performed within the severe intensity domain.

Transcriptional activators and activation mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yesProtein & Cell, 2007
Transcriptional activators are required to turn on the expression of genes in a eukaryotic cell. Activators bound to the enhancer can facilitate either the recruitment of RNA polymerase II to the promoter or its elongation. This article examines a few selected issues in understanding activator functions and activation mechanisms.

Active learning activities

open access: yesSeptentrio Conference Series, 2020
First year architecture students are introduced to the library by taking part in an “Escape Room” activity in the KTH library. The aim of this initiative is to introduce the students to the library space and the library's resources in an interactive and playful way and to enable them to learn and reflect upon their learning within the frame of an ...

Active colloidal molecules in activity gradients [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2022
We consider a rigid assembly of two active Brownian particles, forming an active colloidal dimer, in a gradient of activity. We show analytically that depending on the relative orientation of the two particles the active dimer accumulates in regions of either high or low activity, corresponding to, respectively, chemotaxis and antichemotaxis.
