Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Redox regulation meets metabolism: targeting PRDX2 to prevent hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PRDX2 acts as a central redox hub linking metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In normal hepatocytes, PRDX2 maintains redox balance and metabolic homeostasis under oxidative stress. In contrast, during malignant transformation, PRDX2 promotes oncogenic signaling, stemness, and tumor initiation ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Enzyme activation for activator and enzyme activity measurement

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 1993
A new sensing principle of enzyme activation is demonstrated for the determination of glycogen phosphorylase b and its allosteric effector AMP. As the indicator of the phosphorylase catalysed glycogen phosphorolysis, glucose-1-phosphate formation has been detected with an enzyme sequence comprising coentrapped alkaline phosphatase, mutarotase and ...

Active packaging with antifungal activities

International Journal of Food Microbiology, 2016
There have been many reviews concerned with antimicrobial food packaging, and with the use of antifungal compounds, but none provided an exhaustive picture of the applications of active packaging to control fungal spoilage. Very recently, many studies have been done in these fields, therefore it is timely to review this topic. This article examines the

Light‐Activated Active Colloid Ribbons

Angewandte Chemie, 2017
AbstractWe report a dynamic self‐organization of self‐propelled peanut‐shaped hematite motors from non‐equilibrium driving forces where the propulsion can be triggered by blue light. They result in one‐dimensional, active colloid ribbons with a positive phototactic characteristic.

Activation of a gene activator

Immunology Today, 1987
Differential gene expression is fundamental to the existence of any complex metazoan organism: certain genes are only expressed in some cell types while others are turned on and off at specific stages in a developmental pathway. These changes in expression are activated by intracellular and extracellular signals - molecules that trigger a specific ...

Procoagulant Activity of Activated Monocytes

Pathophysiology of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, 1977
Endotoxin-stimulated monocytes develop a very high tissue-factor-like activity as compared to an equivalent number of monocytes in a preparation of monocyte-enriched mononuclear blood cells obtained by Ficoll®-Urovison® density gradient centrifugation which is not exposed to endotoxin.
