This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Impact of long-term stress on the light output of a WRGB AMOLED display [PDF]
This paper describes how long-term use impacts the light output of a commercial 55' WRGB AMOLED display with InGaZnO TFT backplane. This covers effects which are known by the terms 'aging', 'image-sticking,' and 'burn-in.' The focus is on three different

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Identification decisive of the active aging in Castelo Branco' senior population.
Reconciling longevity with an independent and independent life is an important objective linked to the aging of the population. This was assumed by WHO (2002) when considering active aging as the main objective of policies directed towards the elderly ...

Flight-based chemical characterization of biomass burning aerosols within two prescribed burn smoke plumes [PDF]
Biomass burning represents a major global source of aerosols impacting direct radiative forcing and cloud properties. Thus, the goal of a number of current studies involves developing a better understanding of how the chemical composition and mixing ...

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Hormone deprivation alters mitochondrial function and lipid profile in the hippocampus [PDF]
Mitochondrial dysfunction is a common hallmark in aging. In the female, reproductive senescence is characterized by loss of ovarian hormones, many of whose neuroprotective effects converge upon mitochondria.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
