Effects of Carbon Nanoparticles on Triboelectro‐Induced Surface Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanoparticles added to grease modify the electrocontact behavior. The synergy of particle concentration and electric current dominates the surface damage of metals in contact. Electrical surface damage caused by current leakage is a critical challenge in high‐performance applications such as electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and wind turbine ...

Different pathways toward net-zero emissions imply diverging health impacts: a health impact assessment study for France

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Health
In the transport sector, efforts to achieve carbon neutrality may generate public health co-benefits by promoting physical activity. This study aims to quantify the health impacts related to active transport based on four different scenarios leading ...

Ethanol internal reforming in solid oxide fuel cells: A path toward high performance metal-supported cells for vehicular applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Internal reforming of ethanol fuel was investigated on high-performance metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells (MS-SOFCs) with infiltrated catalysts. The hydrogen concentration and internal reforming effects were evaluated systematically with different ...

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Use of Classical Adsorption Theory to Understand the Dynamic Filtration of Volatile Toxicants in Cigarette Smoke by Active Carbons

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2011
The ability of two very different active carbons, a polymer-derived carbon (with ultramicropores and supermicropores, and a large volume of “transport” pores) and a coconut shell-derived carbon (predominantly ultramicroporous), to reduce the levels of ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
