Activating an Enzyme by an Engineered Coiled Coil Switch

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2006
AbstractWe designed a de novo protein based on a circular permutant of RNaseT1, in which the enzymatic activity can be manipulated by engineered peptide binding. The circular permutant of RNaseT1 was obtained by tethering the original C‐ and N‐termini with a GPAG linker and cleaving the molecule between Glu82 and Asn83.

Active acoustic control in gradient coils for MRI

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2001
AbstractThe new principles of active acoustic control in gradient coil design recently introduced by Mansfield and Haywood (MAGMA 1999;8(Suppl 1):55) are further developed theoretically for the far‐field acoustic output for a single sector of a coil system comprising four or more flat rectangular coil sectors.

COIL activities in Japan: industrial COIL development

SPIE Proceedings, 1996
Chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL) is the only laser expected to be applied for thick plate cutting, for instance, by high laser power over 5 kW transferred to the processing fields by the optical silica fiber. As a result of the first stage of industrial COIL development, a 1 kW subsonic COIL was delivered as a commercial processing device first in ...

A z‐gradient array coil with a dedicated active‐shielded array coil for MRI

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2022
PurposeAn array‐based z‐gradient coil with a set of programmable power amplifiers can outperform a conventional z‐gradient coil and make it highly customizable with a broader range of tunable features.MethodsA dynamically adjustable imaging volume can be achieved using a pair of independent arrays and a modified optimization procedure based on analytic

A coiled-coil masking domain for selective activation of therapeutic antibodies

Nature Biotechnology, 2019
The use of monoclonal antibodies in cancer therapy is limited by their cross-reactivity to healthy tissue. Tumor targeting has been improved by generating masked antibodies that are selectively activated in the tumor microenvironment, but each such antibody necessitates a custom design.

Design, Folding, and Activities of Metal-Assembled Coiled Coil Proteins

Inorganic Chemistry, 2004
Metal ions serve many purposes in natural proteins, from the stabilization of tertiary structure to the direction of protein folding to crucial roles in electron transfer and catalysis. There is considerable interest in creating metal binding sites in designed proteins to understand the structural role of metal ions and to design new metalloproteins ...

Trimerization of a yeast transcriptional activator via a coiled-coil motif

Cell, 1989
The transcriptional induction of heat shock genes is mediated by the heat shock transcription factor (HSF). We have investigated the oligomerization state of HSF from S. cerevisiae and find that it forms a trimer in solution and when bound to DNA.
