The active magnetic compensation coil
Review of Scientific InstrumentsThe active magnetic compensation coil is of great significance for extensive applications, such as fundamental physics, aerospace engineering, national defense industry, and biological science. The magnetic shielding demand is increasing over past few decades, and better performances of the coil are required. To maintain normal operating conditions for

Constitutive nuclear import of latent and activated STAT5a by its coiled coil domain
The FASEB Journal, 2007ABSTRACT Signal transducer and activator of transcription 5a (STAT5a) is a critical transcription factor for a number of physiological processes including hematopoiesis and mammary gland development. Cytokines such as growth hormone, prolactin, erythropoietin, and interleukin‐2 stimulate the activation of STAT5a ...

Noncationic Rigid and Anisotropic Coiled-Coil Proteins Exhibit Cell-Penetration Activity
Langmuir, 2015Numerous cationic peptides that penetrate cells have been studied intensively as drug delivery system carriers for cellular delivery. However, cationic molecules tend to be cytotoxic and cause inflammation, and their stability in the blood is usually low.

The Activation Volume of a DNA Helix−Coil Transition
Biochemistry, 1996The role of hydration in the kinetics of a DNA helix-coil equilibrium is investigated by studying the effect of hydrostatic pressure on the rate constants describing the reaction. The kinetics were measured using the thermal hysteresis between the denaturation and renaturation curves of the triplex-forming oligonucleotides: 5'd[AAA-GGAGGAGAAGAAGAAAAAA]

Template activating factor-I (TAF-I)alpha and TAF-Ibeta have been identified as the host factors that activate DNA replication of the adenovirus genome complexed with viral basic core proteins (Ad core). TAF-I causes a structural change of the Ad core, thereby stimulating not only replication but also transcription from the Ad core DNA in vitro.

Subdomain Folding of the Coiled Coil Leucine Zipper from the bZIP Transcriptional Activator GCN4
Biochemistry, 1994One popular model for protein folding, the framework model, postulates initial formation of secondary structure elements, which then assemble into the native conformation. However, short peptides that correspond to secondary structure elements in proteins are often only marginally stable in isolation. A 33-residue peptide (GCN4-p1) corresponding to the

SUMMARYThe gene 1700040L02Rik (GenBank accession number NM_028491, NP_082767.1) was selected by in silico screening as candidate that encodes a calcium‐binding protein in sperm from a database of predicted mouse cilia‐related genes. The predicted amino acid sequence revealed the presence of coiled‐coil domain at the C‐terminus and a CLAMP motif ...

Transgene regulation system responding to Rho associated coiled-coil kinase (ROCK) activation
Journal of Controlled Release, 2011Recently, we have proposed a new system of gene regulation called 'drug or gene delivery system responding to cellular signals' (D-RECS). In this system, transgene expression is activated in response to intracellular target protein kinases or proteases for safe, cell-specific gene delivery by using peptide-polymer conjugates.

COIL-related activities in the Czech Republic
SPIE Proceedings, 1996This presentation is an historical overview of the activities related to the Chemical Oxygen- Iodine Laser conducted in the Czech Republic. It includes small scale basic research, both the experimental and the theoretical, with a view to particular topics of this laser system in the cw and the pulsed regime of generation.

Active screening in RF coil design
Magma: Magnetic Resonance Materials in Physics, Biology, and Medicine, 1994Active magnetic screening can be made to operate satisfactorily at RF frequencies up to approximately 8 MHz for small diameter short solenoids. The principles can be used to construct magnetically orthogonal coils which are geometrically coaxial. Such coils have a wide range of uses in NMR.
