Multi-Scale, Multi-Feature Vector Flow Active Contours for Automatic Multiple-Face Detection
To automatically detect faces in real-world images presenting challenges such as complex background and multiple foregrounds, we propose a new method which is based on parametric active contours and which does not require any supervision, model nor ...

Active-GNG: model acquisition and tracking in cluttered backgrounds
The Self-Organising Artificial Neural Network Models, of which we have used the Growing Neural Gas (GNG) can be applied to preserve the topology of an input space.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Wavalet-based Active Contour Model for Object
We propose an integrated wavelet-based framework of the active contour model(snake) for segmentation and motion tracking of deformable objects in video ...

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

A NOVEL GLOBAL THRESHOLD-BASED ACTIVE CONTOUR MODEL
In this paper, we propose a novel global threshold-based active contour model which employs a new edge-stopping function that controls the direction of the evolution and stops the evolving contour at weak or blurred edges.

Mostly motivated by the image segmentation problem and its applications to the extraction of agricultural crop fields from satellite data, we propose a new PDE (partial differential equation) formulation for the piecewise constant approximation of ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
