Automated Ultrasound Object Segmentation Using Combinatorial Active Contour Method
Active Contour (AC) is an algorithm widely used in segmentation for developing Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems in ultrasound imaging. Existing AC models still retain an interactive nature.

A Fast Region-Based Segmentation Model with Gaussian Kernel of Fractional Order
By summarizing some classical active contour models from the view of level set representation, a simple energy function expression with the Gaussian kernel of fractional order is proposed, and then a novel region-based geometric active contour model is ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Thermal Infrared Pedestrian Image Segmentation Using Level Set Method
The edge-based active contour model has been one of the most influential models in image segmentation, in which the level set method is usually used to minimize the active contour energy function and then find the desired contour.

Directional Geodesic Active Contours
We present a non-conformal metric that generalizes the geodesic active contours approach for image segmentation. The new metric is obtained by adding to the Euclidean metric an additional term that penalizes the misalignment of the curve with the image ...

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

The Potential of Active Contour Models in Extracting Roads from Mobile Laser Scanning Data
Active contour models present a robust segmentation approach which make efficient use of specific information about objects in the input data rather than processing all the data.

Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...
