Active contours based on weighted gradient vector flow and balloon forces for medical image segmentation [PDF]
Active contours, or snakes, have been widely used for image segmentation purposes. However, high noise sensitivity and poor performance over weak edges are the most acute issues that hinder the segmentation accuracy of these curves, particularly in ...

Unsupervised Texture Segmentation using Active Contours and Local Distributions of Gaussian Markov Random Field Parameters [PDF]
In this paper, local distributions of low order Gaussian Markov Random Field (GMRF) model parameters are proposed as texture features for unsupervised texture segmentation.Instead of using model parameters as texture features, we exploit the variations ...

Automatic segmentation of lizard spots using an active contour model
Animal biometrics is a challenging task. In the literature, many algorithms have been used, e.g. penguin chest recognition, elephant ears recognition and leopard stripes pattern recognition, but to use technology to a large extent in this area of ...

We propose a method for interactive boundary extraction which combines a deep, patch-based representation with an active contour framework. We train a class-specific convolutional neural network which predicts a vector pointing from the respective point on the evolving contour towards the closest point on the boundary of the object of interest.

Image Segmentation Using Bias Correction Active Contours
Deep learning-based image segmentation methods require densely annotated and massive datasets to produce effective results. On the other hand, active contours-based methods are excellent alternatives to the situation, producing acceptable segmentation ...

Deep Learning and Adaptive Graph-Based Growing Contours for Agricultural Field Extraction
Field mapping and information on agricultural landscapes is of increasing importance for many applications. Monitoring schemes and national cadasters provide a rich source of information but their maintenance and regular updating is costly and labor ...

Embedded Real-Time Architecture for Level-Set-Based Active Contours
Methods described by partial differential equations have gained a considerable interest because of undoubtful advantages such as an easy mathematical description of the underlying physics phenomena, subpixel precision, isotropy, or direct extension to ...
