Power aggregator in active distribution networks using IoT
This paper presents an Internet of Things (IoT) architecture for a power aggregator of energy resources in active distribution networks. Two types of algorithms are evaluated and compared: centralized and decentralized control.

Active Distribution Networks Restoration after Extreme Events [PDF]
After extreme events such as floods, thunderstorms, blizzards and hurricanes there will be devastating effects in the distribution networks which may cause a partial or complete blackout. Then, the major concern for the system operators is to restore the

On The Distribution of Penultimate Activations of Classification Networks
This paper studies probability distributions of penultimate activations of classification networks. We show that, when a classification network is trained with the cross-entropy loss, its final classification layer forms a Generative-Discriminative pair with a generative classifier based on a specific distribution of penultimate activations.

New data-based load modeling for active distribution networks
Electric systems are experiencing fast development, mainly motivated by the carbon reduction policies in the energy sector and the technological developments that introduce new elements and processes. The transition to active distribution networks (ADNs)

Active networks for efficient distributed network management [PDF]
The emerging next generation of routers exhibit both high performance and rich functionality, such as support for virtual private networks and QoS. To achieve this, per-flow queuing and fast IP filtering are incorporated into the router hardware. The management of a network comprising such devices and efficient use of the new functionality introduce ...

Unbalance compensated distance relay for active distribution networks
Integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) into the Active Distribution Networks (ADN) causes issues in conventional overcurrent protection. Additionally, another conventional protection, such as the distance function, has been used, but ADN ...

Asynchronous Distributed Voltage Control in Active Distribution Networks [PDF]
With the explosion of distributed energy resources (DERs), voltage regulation in distribution networks has been facing a great challenge. This paper derives an asynchronous distributed voltage control strategy based on the partial primal-dual gradient algorithm, where both active and reactive controllable power of DERs are considered.

Distributed computation and reconfiguration in actively dynamic networks [PDF]
AbstractWe study here systems of distributed entities that can actively modify their communication network. This gives rise to distributed algorithms that apart from communication can also exploit network reconfiguration to carry out a given task. Also, the distributed task itself may now require a global reconfiguration from a given initial network ...
