Supermassive Black Holes in Active Galactic Nuclei. I. The Consistency of Black Hole Masses in Quiescent and Active Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We report the first results of a program to measure accurate stellar velocity dispersions in the bulges of the host galaxies of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) for which accurate black hole (BH) masses have been determined via reverberation mapping.

Dust-obscured Galaxies with Broken Power-law Spectral Energy Distributions Discovered by UNIONS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report on the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of infrared (IR)-bright dust-obscured galaxies (DOGs) with ( i − [22]) _AB ≥ 7.0. Using photometry from the deep and wide Ultraviolet Near-Infrared Optical Northern Survey, combined with near-IR (NIR)

Long slit spectroscopy of a sample of isolated spirals with and without an AGN

open access: yes, 2003
We present the kinematical data obtained for a sample of active (Seyfert) and non active isolated spiral galaxies, based on long slit spectra along several position angles in the Halpha line region and, in some cases, in the Ca triplet region as well ...

LABOCA observations of nearby, active galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present large scale 870 micron maps of the nearby starburst galaxies NGC253, NGC4945 and the nearest giant elliptical radio galaxy Centaurus A (NGC 5128) obtained with the newly commissioned Large Apex Bolometer Camera (LABOCA) operated at the APEX ...

Self‐Powered Flexible Triboelectric‐Gated Ion‐Gel Transistor for Neuromorphic Tactile Sensing and Human Activity Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A fully flexible ion‐gel‐gated graphene‐channel transistor driven by a triboelectric nanogenerator enables self‐powered tactile sensing and synaptic learning. Mimicking spike‐rate‐dependent plasticity, the device exhibits frequency‐selective potentiation and depression, supporting rate‐coded neuromorphic computation even under flex.

Narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxies and the M_BH - sigma Relation

open access: yes, 2007
We have studied the location of narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies and broad-line Seyfert 1 (BLS1) galaxies on the M_BH - sigma relation of non-active galaxies.

A Census of Photometrically Selected Little Red Dots at 4 < z < 9 in JWST Blank Fields

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Observations with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have uncovered numerous faint active galactic nuclei (AGN) at z ∼ 5 and beyond. These objects are key to our understanding of the formation of supermassive black holes (SMBHs), their coevolution ...

The MURALES survey

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
We present the results of VLT/MUSE integral-field spectroscopy of the radio galaxy 3C 313 at z = 0.459, combined with HST and Chandra images. The high-resolution optical and X-ray images show the presence of two sources separated by 0.″63 (3.7 kpc ...

The First Hour of Extra-galactic Data of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Spectroscopic Commissioning: The Coma Cluster

open access: yes, 2001
On 26 May 1999, one of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) fiber-fed spectrographs saw astronomical first light. This was followed by the first spectroscopic commissioning run during the dark period of June 1999.
