Active magnetic bearings for sodium pump

2014 Annual International Conference on Emerging Research Areas: Magnetics, Machines and Drives (AICERA/iCMMD), 2014
Centrifugal Pumps are used in the primary and secondary heat transport systems of fast reactors for pumping liquid sodium. Lubrication oil leakage from the conventional bearings used in these pumps is a potential threat to cause reactivity changes which could result in extended reactor shut down.

Development of an active superconducting magnetic bearing

IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 1995
The potential use of YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ as an active component in a magnetic bearing is being investigated. Measurements are being made of the load bearing capacity and related stiffnesses in comparison to predictions from the critical state model.

Fuzzy control schemes for active magnetic bearings

1993
Active magnetic bearings are used in applications where ordinary bearings meet difficulties. Due to nonlinear structure of active magnetic bearing system fuzzy logic control gives an attractive choice to control these systems. In this paper a fuzzy derivate gain adjusting method for active magnetic bearing control is presented.

Control aspects of active magnetic bearings

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999
Abstract The challenges of active magnetic bearing control are reviewed and several new areas of research are discussed. Robust multivariable control design techniques are examined for the design of controllers for a high speed milling spindle. Adaptive vibration control is shown to be very effective in the suppression of synchronous vibration due to

Active Magnetic Bearing System Research

2019 III International Conference on Control in Technical Systems (CTS), 2019
In this article the tasks of constructing and studying the characteristics of electromagnets in an active magnetic bearing (AMB) is studied. The following results are presented in the work: description of a physical object, the process of creating a metrological stand, plan and methodology for conducting research.

State Controller of Active Magnetic Bearing

2007
A state controller of rotating shaft levitated by an active magnetic bearing is described in this contribution. It is shown that the state controller is able to slow down and stabilize the response of the controlled system. Furthermore an error compensation represented by an integrative controller connected on input to the state controller allows ...

Active magnetic bearings of high reliability

IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2003, 2004
Active magnetic bearings (AMBs) offer a new way in bearing technology for supporting structures as, for example, platforms or rotors in rotating machinery. Compared with conventional journal bearings or rolling element bearings AMBs possess substantial advantages: No lubricant and no friction due to non-contact suspension; no maintenance required ...

Axial active magnetic bearing design

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2014
The purpose of this paper is to propose a useful method to implement active magnetic bearings (AMBs) on an existing rotating shaft which rotates on conventional bearings. This is feasible if AMBs can produce the same reaction loads of conventional ones and if the size of the vane is large enough to host an AMB.

The Rapid Prototyping of Active Magnetic Bearings

2014
The paper deals with rapid prototyping of active magnetic bearings. Modern trends in aviation and possibilities of magnetic suspension using are characterized. Geometric analysis of active axial magnetic bearing are also described. Designing input parameters are defined and calculation results are presented.
