Active noise control for infant incubators

2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009
This paper presents an active noise control system for infant incubators. Experimental results show that global noise reduction can be achieved for infant incubator ANC systems. An audio-integration algorithm is presented to introduce a healthy audio (intrauterine) sound with the ANC system to mask the residual noise and soothe the infant.

Stability of active noise control algorithms

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2001
This paper provides a stability analysis of a class of acoustic noise control algorithms by showing that the adapted models have more in common with nonlinear, finite impulse response (FIR) equation error models than with the infinite impulse response (IIR) output error models they superficially resemble.

Down with noise [active noise control]

IEEE Spectrum, 1999
Annoying noise in the passenger cabins of propeller aircraft, the rumble in air-conditioning systems, and the sounds disrupting headset communication are being reduced these days by active noise control, thanks to advances in digital signal processing. The technique relies on the principle of destructive interference between two sound fields, one field

Delayless subband active noise control

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993
Wideband active noise control systems can often involve adaptive filter lengths with hundreds of taps. The high computational burden associated with such long filters can be reduced substantially by using subband processing, which has been widely employed in acoustic echo cancellation. A new technique for subband active noise control is introduced that

Active Noise Control

2007
This paper reviews the current position of research in the field of active noise control and describes the most important adaptive methods of implementation. Adaptive feedback, feedforward and hybrid control structures, time and frequency domain control structures and single channel and multiple channel control structures are outlined.

Design of Active Noise Control Systems for Pulse Noise

2016
Active noise control (ANC) methods have been successfully studied and tested for the cancellation of stationary noise. In the last decade, some adaptive solutions for the case of impulsive noise have been proposed in the literature. Nevertheless, such a model fits a limited class of impulsive disturbances that characterize practical scenarios.

Active Noise Control

1986
After several years in which the practitioners and advocates of Active Noise Control have had as their major aim to demonstrate to their peers that the concept does not necessarily violate the Laws of Physics, the topic has suddenly become accepted and respectable.
