Block fault of large-capacity HVDC (high voltage direct current) transmission line will cause great impact on the weak HVDC sending-end power grid with high proportional renewable energy generation. A large power imbalance resulting from the week HVDC sending-end power block will lead to AC grid frequency increase accordingly.

Enhanced Active Power Adjustment Model in the Reliability Evaluation of the Hybrid AC/DC System
2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010An enhanced active power adjustment model is developed for reliability evaluation of the hybrid AC/DC power system. The power flow on the high voltage direct current (HVDC) line is embedded as an optimal variable in the classical active power adjustment model, which will help to analyze the HVDC interconnections as tie lines among regions more ...

Active power real-time control strategy for wind farm considering AGC adjustment capability Limits
2014 IEEE PES T&D Conference and Exposition, 2014Because of the intermittent and uncertainty of wind power, the change rate and amplitude of power system net-load increase with wind power penetration growing continuously. The prediction error of wind power generation capacity is large, so it's difficult to quantify its impact on AGC adjustment capacity and incorporate wind power maximally.

The active power transfer capability (APTC) of a converter integrated with a weak AC grid is limited by the small-signal stability. This paper analyzes the APTC for the hybrid MMC interfacing a weak AC grid. Firstly, the time-domain small-signal model for the hybrid MMC is derived.

Adjustable step-size LMS based IRP method for active power filter
2020 International Conference on Computer Communication and Informatics (ICCCI), 2020in this paper, an improved instantaneous reactive power (IRP) method has been proposed for computation of the reference current of the active power filter. The adjustable step-size least mean square (LMS) algorithm is integrated with the IRP method to improve its transient behaviour of the APF for compensating the harmonics currents.

A Series Hybrid Active Power Filter with the function of Adjustable Fundamental Impedance
2020 23rd International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2020This paper proposed a series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) with the function of adjustable impedance. The principle of SHAPF based on magnetic flux compensation is addressed. A linear transformer with air gap and multiple secondary windings is chosen, which are injecting specific currents into multiple secondary windings respectively.

A Low-Power Low-Phase-Noise VCO With Self-Adjusted Active Resistor
IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2016This letter presents a low-power low-phase-noise VCO with self-adjusted active resistor (SAAR). A pair of PMOS transistors is introduced between cross-coupled pairs and LC-tank, serving as the SAAR. When cross-coupled transistor resides in the saturation region, SAAR exhibits small resistance, enabling fast switching and suppressing flicker noise up ...

Active power control for preventing voltage instability using an adjustable speed machine
2001 Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37262), 2001One cause of power system voltage instability is the loss of short-term operation equilibrium after a disturbance. This paper proposes an active power control method for preventing short-term voltage instability. The active power control is implemented by means of an adjustable speed machine, which is primarily used as a synchronous condenser, but ...

Reconfigurable active front-end of adjustable speed drives for power quality improvement
2009 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2009A new control scheme is proposed to utilize the active front-end of a high performance adjustable speed drives (ASD) to solve power quality problems caused by conventional diode/thyristor drives. Under the proposed control scheme, a fully controlled active front-end ASD acts as a local power quality conditioner in order to compensate harmonic currents ...
