Virtual Redundancy for Active-Standby Cloud Applications
IEEE INFOCOM 2018 - IEEE Conference on Computer Communications, 2018VM redundancy is the foundation of resilient cloud applications. While active-active approaches combined with load balancing and autoscaling are usually resource efficient, the stateful nature of many cloud applications often necessitates 1+1 (or $1+\mathbf{n}$ ) active-standby approaches.

Redundant proteolytic activation of a viral superantigen
Molecular Immunology, 1998Proteolytic activation of viral superantigens (vSAgs)4 expressed in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells is required for T cell stimulation, and is mediated primarily by the protein convertase (PC) furin. Three PC recognition sites are highly conserved in vSAgs, but it was not known which sites are required for PC dependent vSAg activation.

ACTIVE REDUNDANCY ALLOCATIONS IN SERIES SYSTEMS
Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2011We consider the problem of optimally allocating one/two active spares in series systems. Lifetimes of different configurations are compared with respect to the reversed failure rate order, the failure rate order, the increasing concave order, and the stochastic precedence order.

Active Redundancy Allocation in Coherent Systems
Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 1988We introduce in this paper a new measure of component importance, called redundancy importance, in coherent systems. It is a measure of importance for the situation in which an active redundancy is to be made in a coherent system. This measure of component importance is compared with both the (Birnbaum) reliability importance and the structural ...

Array redundancy for active line arrays
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1996Active imaging arrays are used to image scenes composed of reflectors of transmitted radiation, and in many such applications, line arrays are employed. In this paper, we discuss scanned active line arrays for imaging based on image synthesis. We define the novel concept of array redundancy for active arrays, analogous to the well-known concept of ...

Redundancy was defined in Chapter 1 as the provision of more items than are actually required for satisfactory operation for the purpose of improving reliability. There are two principal forms, active (or active parallel) and stand-by. In active redundancy, as the name implies, all the items that are for the time being available are operated, but the ...

Detecting Non-Redundant Collective Activity of Neurons
2019 IEEE 15th International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP), 2019Brain activity is characterized by the activity of huge number of neurons that are densely connected in complex networks. Detecting how neural activity is coordinated across time and space over brain circuits is a very challenging task. In particular, ensembles of neurons may co-activate in specific patterns whose expression correlates to various ...

Active Learning with Maximum Density and Minimum Redundancy
2014Active Learning is a machine learning technique that selects the most informative examples for labeling so that the classification performance would be improved to its maximum possibility. In this paper, a novel active learning approach based on Maximum Density and Minimum Redundancy (MDMR) is proposed.

Secure multimedia activity with redundant schemes
Proceedings IEEE SoutheastCon 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37283), 2003The authors have investigated secure multimedia information transfers and maintained a redundant scheme in order to validate the information being exchanged. Also the migration from the MPEG2 standard to the MPEG4 (MPEG: Motion Picture Expert Group) plays an important role in the bandwidth utilization and security.
