Efficacy and safety of tissue plasminogen activator

Neurosurgery, 1987
Simple aspiration to remove acute intracerebral hematomas has been thwarted by the solidity of the clot. Urokinase, a first generation fibrinolytic agent, has been used to liquefy such clots with some success. Therefore, tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA), a second generation fibrinolytic drug that may be safer and more effective, was studied to ...

Safety of space activities

Acta Astronautica, 1985
Abstract Measures for the safety of space activities have to be elaborated by the scientific community. They should include principles for collision avoidance, possibly in the form of traffic separation schemes. A reduction of collision probabilities could be achieved by systematic removal of inactive satellites, by establishing disposal orbital ...

Online Active Safety for Robotic Manipulators

2019 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2019
Future manufacturing environments will see an increased need for cooperation between humans and machines. In this paper we propose a method that allows industrial manipulators to safely operate around humans. This approach guarantees that the manipulator will never collide with human operators while performing its normal tasks.

Funding safety activities in secondary schools

Chemical Health & Safety, 2003
Abstract In order to teach chemistry thoroughly, safety should be taught as an integral portion of the curriculum. However, acquiring the funding to incorporate safety related material can be difficult. We present some innovative ways to gain the necessary funding, and suggest some appropriate resource material for secondary school chemistry ...

Safety Region Based Active Safety Methods

2018
The safety region based active safety methods are discussed in this section. A safety region analysis model is proposed based on formalized description of some basic definitions like safety region estimation, multi-domain division and etc. Relative relationship between safety region boundary and system operating point can provide quantitative safety ...

Safety and activity of saquinavir in HIV infection

The Lancet, 1995
We evaluated saquinavir, an orally active, selective inhibitor of HIV proteinase, in a randomised, double-blind, dose-ranging study in 49 zidovudine-naive HIV-positive patients with few or no symptoms and CD4 cell counts of 500 or less. The study was designed to assess the antiviral activity and tolerability of saquinavir.
