Use of LiDAR to derive a new model of glacial hydro‐dynamic events shaping southern Ontario landscapes, Canada

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
High‐resolution LiDAR data with field validation of inferred southern Ontario ice stream terrains indicate that steady‐state ice streaming is difficult to reconcile with our observations. Rather, these new observations show strong evidence of significant fluvial scouring across the area in which meltwater sheet flow overtopped the landscape.

RV Pelagia Cruise 64PE372, 27 Jun - 11 Jul 2013. Flow dynamics and sedimentation in an active submarine channel: a process-product approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Novel technologies are providing new opportunities to study the structure and dynamics of submarine sediment-gravity flows; these flows are the dominant process for transfer of sediment into the deep ocean, but are very hard to monitor due their ...

Measuring juvenile habitat quality for fishes and invertebrates

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Identifying the role of marine and estuarine habitats in supporting fish and invertebrate populations during vulnerable juvenile life stages is essential to achieve effective conservation and fisheries management. There remains general agreement that: (i) the quality of juvenile habitat is best measured as the contribution of juveniles to ...

Mitigating Fish Entrainment With Fish Protection Screens at Water Pumping Sites

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Murray‐Darling Basin (MDB) is one of the most regulated and fragmented river systems in Australia. The basin's extensive river infrastructure development has supported growing water demands for irrigation, industry, domestic, and electricity production, but increased use of pumps for water diversion threatens aquatic species and ...

Mapping the Canyon [PDF]

open access: yes
In this activity, students will learn about the bathymetry of Hudson Canyon, a submarine canyon on the Atlantic coast of North America. As they study Hudson Canyon, they will compare and contrast topographic maps and bathymetric maps, investigate the ...

From Hopeful Heroes to Cynical Martyrs: Identity Work and the Path‐Dependent Identification with Maladaptive Logics

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract Scholars have long attended to both the persistence and change of institutional logic–identity constellations, but we know less about why and how organizational members might cling to a logic despite its evident maladaptive character and the resulting emotional upheaval.
