From snapshots to continuous estimates: Augmenting citizen science with computer vision for fish monitoring

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study presents an end‐to‐end computer‐vision pipeline for monitoring fish migration using underwater video. We integrate field camera deployment, annotation, model training and automated in‐season counting to generate continuous, high‐resolution data on river herring spawning migration.

Multi-Information-Assisted Bistatic Active Sonar Target Tracking for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles in Shallow Water

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Bistatic active sonar enables robust and precise target position and tracking, making it a key technology for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in underwater surveillance. This paper proposes a multi-information-assisted target tracking algorithm for

Deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and improved YOLOv9 for efficient benthos detection: a case study at Lake Hamana, Japan

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study presents a UAV‐based framework that integrates deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and an enhanced YOLO detector to improve centimetre‐scale benthic organism monitoring. Using hermit crabs in Lake Hamana, a coastal lagoon in Japan, as a case study, the method substantially enhanced small‐object detection performance ...

Cascaded-Filter-Based Reverberation Suppression Method of Short-Pulse Continuous Wave for Active Sonar

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Reverberation is the main background interference in active sonar and seriously interferes with the extraction of the target echo. Active sonar systems can use short-pulse continuous wave (CW) signals to reduce the reverberation intensity.

Scalable low‐cost seabed landers: the missing link for sustained, integrated, long‐term observations in dynamic shallow seas

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Seabed landers, when equipped with a range of biotic and abiotic sensors, offer a non‐invasive and cost‐effective solution for ecosystem‐scale monitoring of Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) and Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) in dynamic shallow seas.

Reverberation suppression using non-negative matrix factorization to detect low-Doppler target with continuous wave active sonar

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2019
In active sonar systems, the detection of echo from targets can deteriorate due to reverberation. Detection becomes more difficult if targets have low-Doppler frequency and are located near the reverberation band, especially in an environment with low ...

Environmental Stressors Influence Spatial Complexity in a Fluvial Macrophyte meadow

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This research investigates the nonlinear relationships between environmental stressors and the fine‐scale spatial complexity of a fluvial macrophytes meadow. The use of multivariate spatial analysis allowed us to identify two major environmental gradients (nutrients and light) and two major complexity gradients (related to abundance and fragmentation).

High-Resolution Imaging Method of Deconvolution MIMO Sonar Based on Acoustic Homing Platform

open access: yes水下无人系统学报
To address the demand for precise imaging of the desired guidance part of a target by an undersea vehicle, this paper attempted to apply multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) sonar imaging to the acoustic homing platform of an underwater vehicle for the ...

The Nexus Between Circular Economy and Sustainable Supply Chain Management: PRISMA Methodology

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The intersection of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) and circular economy (CE) has attracted increasing academic and practical attention, emphasizing the need for integrated sustainability approaches. This study employs the PRISMA protocol and conceptualizes the CE–SSCM relationship as a dynamic system in which internal capabilities,
