Acute Cellular Rejection: Is It Still Relevant?
Seminars in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2018AbstractDespite significant progress in the field of transplant immunology, acute cellular rejection (ACR) remains a very frequent complication after lung transplantation (LTx), with almost 30% of LTx recipients experiencing at least one episode of treated ACR during the first year of follow-up. Most episodes respond to the first-line immunosuppressive

Acute cellular xenograft rejection
Xenotransplantation, 1997Abstract:The acute cellular rejection process after xenotransplantation of vascularized organs, i.e. heart, kidney and liver, has so far been difficult to study since the implanted organs are lost in a hyperacute rejection before cellular rejection develops. Primarily non‐vascularized xenografts‐e.g.

Hepatofugal portal flow due to acute cellular rejection
Abdominal Imaging, 2005We describe a case of living donor liver transplantation with hepatofugal portal flow caused by acute cellular rejection. The reversed portal flow was corrected by splenectomy and ligation of the residual collateral veins. Hepatofugal flow causes ischemic damage to the graft, which does not normalize spontaneously.

Apoptosis and Acute Cellular Rejection in Human Heart Transplants
Revista Española de Cardiología (English Edition), 2010Apoptosis has been implicated in the pathophysiology of various forms of heart disease. Acute cellular rejection leads to morbidity after heart transplantation and invasive techniques are needed for its diagnosis. We investigated the presence of cardiomyocyte apoptosis in transplanted hearts, its progression, its relationship with rejection, and the ...

The prediction of acute cellular rejection in orthotopic liver transplantation
Liver Transplantation and Surgery, 1999The occurrence of acute cellular rejection after orthotopic liver transplantation is common. At present, no allowance is made in immunosuppressive regimens for parameters other than weight. We investigated parameters in 121 consecutive patients receiving their primary allograft to determine if there are pretransplantation factors predicting the ...

The anatomic distribution of acute cellular rejection in the allograft lung
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2000Transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) is used for routine monitoring and diagnosing of acute cellular rejection (ACR) in the lung allograft, and yet the optimal anatomic site for lung biopsy has not been investigated. We examined our clinical data to clarify the distribution of ACR in the lung allograft monitored by TBLB.A retrospective case-series study ...

Chronic rejection (CR) in liver allografts shows a rapid onset and progressive course, leading to graft failure within the first year after transplantation. Most cases are preceded by episodes of acute cellular rejection (AR), but histological features predictive for the transition toward CR are not well documented. We assessed the predictive value of ...
