Associations between prior wasting malnutrition and indices of insulin secretion and sensitivity among six cohorts from Asia and Africa: The SAMPA study

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims The role of prior wasting malnutrition (PM) in determining insulin sensitivity and secretion in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs) remains unclear. We investigated associations of insulin indices with PM and whether these were modified by current body mass index (BMI).

Systematic Comparison of High‐Fat Diet– and Streptozotocin‐Induced Prediabetic Obese C57BL/6J Mouse Models: A Sex‐Based Protocol Optimization Study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Animal models of prediabetes (Pre‐DM) are essential for studying metabolic disease and testing therapies, yet high‐fat diet (HFD) and HFD‐plus‐streptozotocin (STZ) protocols vary in feeding duration, STZ dose, and diagnostic criteria and rarely account for sex.

Increasing Trends in Hospitalisation With Diabetic Ketoacidosis at Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis Among Children and Youth in the United States and England, 2002–2020

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background There is a paucity of population‐level data evaluating trends in the proportion of children and youth hospitalised with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) at the time of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) diagnosis. Methods National Medicaid (US publicly insured claims), MarketScan (US commercially insured claims) and Clinical Practice Research ...

Antenatal Corticosteroids in Gestational Diabetes: A Systematic Review of Glycemic Response and Management Strategies

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Antenatal corticosteroids (ACS) promote foetal lung maturation in pregnancies at risk of preterm birth; however, in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), they can exacerbate maternal glycemia and contribute to adverse neonatal outcomes. Clinical guidelines offer limited direction on optimal treatment adjustment.
