KMT2A degradation is observed in decitabine‐responsive acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that decitabine (DEC) not only degrades the DNA methyltransferase DNMT1 but also the leukemic driver lysine methyltransferase KMT2A likely due to structural similarity of the DNA‐binding CXXC domains. DEC influences KMT2A downstream processes and synergizes with menin inhibitor revumenib (REV) to decrease leukemic cell proliferation, and

Parametric analysis of the transmission dynamics during indigenous aggregated outbreaks caused by five SARS-CoV-2 strains in Nanjing, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundSARS-CoV-2 strains have been of great concern due to their high infectivity and antibody evasion.MethodsIn this study, data were collected on indigenous aggregated outbreaks in Nanjing from January 2020 to December 2022, caused by five strains ...

ACUTE TONSILLAR DISEASES AND THEIR SEQUELAE. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1900
The tonsils belong to the hemopoietic system, and are germinating centers for the leucocytes. Their period of greatest activity is in childhood and youth, when all the lymphatic organs are especially active, and when the thymus gland is disappearing.1 Surrounding the tonsillar follicles are plexuses of lymphatics, and in the tissues of the tonsils ...

Gene Therapy for Acute Diseases

open access: yesMolecular Therapy, 2001
The use of gene transfer systems to study cell function makes it apparent that overexpression of a transgene can restore or improve the function of a protein and positively influence cell function in a predetermined manner for purposes of counterbalancing cellular pathophysiology.

Acute Graft-versus-Host Disease - Biologic Process, Prevention, and Therapy.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2017
When T cells from a bone marrow donor begin to attack the host within 3 months after hematopoietic-cell transplantation, acute graft-versus-host disease results.

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.
