Loss of VMP1 Impairs Tight Junction Recycling and Aggravates Intestinal Barrier Dysfunction in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies vacuole membrane protein 1 (VMP1) as a critical regulator of intestinal epithelial barrier homeostasis. VMP1 facilitates the recruitment of CORO1C to late endosomes, supporting Retromer‐mediated recycling of the tight junction protein Occludin.

Efficacy and safety of acupuncture for septic gastrointestinal dysfunction: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundSeptic gastrointestinal dysfunction (S-GID) lacks effective therapeutic approaches. Acupuncture has been widely used to treat S-GID; however, its efficacy and safety lack high-quality evidence-based support, particularly from randomized ...

PRELID1 and VDAC3 Coordinate a Senescence‐Like State in Germinal Center B Cells to Promote IL‐7–Driven Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Colorectal cancer is characterized by an immunosuppressive microenvironment that limits immunotherapy efficacy. We identify a senescence‐like state in germinal center B cells driven by the PRELID1–VDAC3 axis, which promotes IL‐7 secretion, alleviates CD8+ T‐cell exhaustion, and enhances antitumor immunity. Targeting this pathway improves responsiveness

Patient‐Derived 3D‐Bioprinted Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma Models Recapitulate Tumor Autologous Traits and Predict Personalized Adjuvant Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leveraging 3D bioprinting, this study establishes patient‐derived in vitro models of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. These models faithfully recapitulate the histopathology, molecular profiles, and genomic characteristics of the original patient tumors.

The Enhanced Whey Protein Oral Bioavailability and Muscle Anabolism Ability by a Simple and Effective Piperine‐Whey Protein Synergistic Codelivery System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
WP(Pip) is a mixture of whey protein and piperine‐loaded nanoemulsion stabilized by WP through microfluidic homogenization. Acting as a “smart key,” piperine opens epithelial tight junctions to enhance absorption of whey protein and, thereby increasing circulating amino acid availability, synergistically up‐regulates the mTOR signaling pathway in ...

The hockey-stick association of energy supply in the first 72 h of critical illness may apply only to patients with a normal body mass index: a post-hoc analysis of a prospective observational multicenter study

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
ObjectiveIt is unclear whether this non-linear relationship between caloric delivery during the acute phase of critical illness and prognosis applies to patients across all body mass index (BMI) categories.MethodsThis secondary analysis of a multicenter ...
