Abstract: Acute basophilic leukemia has recently been included into a revised classification of acute leukemias proposed by the WHO panel. Due to the rarity of the disease, consistent diagnostic criteria are lacking. We report on two cases of acute basophilic leukemia that occurred in our department during the last 10 yr.

Blood, 2013![Figure][1] A 46-year-old woman presented with diffuse bone pain. She had a history of acute myeloid leukemia with minimal differentiation (AML-M0) and normal karyotype diagnosed 15 months ago, achieved complete remission (CR) 1 month after beginning induction chemotherapy, and received ...

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a group of clonal cell disorders characterized by maturation defects, resulting in ineffective hematopoiesis. They often transform to acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML), which is difficult to treat and carries a dismal prognosis.

Hematological malignancies account for approximately 7% of new ancers annually. AML is the most common acute leukemia in adults. In 010, there were an estimated 12,330 new cases and 8950 deaths from ML. It accounts for about 80% of acute leukemias in adults. ALL had n estimated 5330 new cases and 1420 deaths in 2010.

During the past decade progress in the treatment of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia has slowed. A 50% to 60% cure barrier has frustrated a multitudinous array of therapeutic attempts to overcome this obstacle. With few exceptions, intensifications of induction, consolidation, or maintenance therapies have not overcome this obstacle.

Abstract We examined the clinical features and therapeutic response of a group of patients with acute leukemia and hypocellular bone marrow. Therapists have generally avoided, delayed or modified therapy because of hypocellularity. We demonstrated not only that aggressive therapy is possible, but also that the remission rate is high (complete ...

Acute nonlymphoid leukemia (ANLL) is not an uncommon form of leukemia in children. The differential diagnosis is sometimes difficult, but there are a number of laboratory tests that can contribute useful information. Despite the introduction of several newer chemotherapeutic agents, only 50 to 60 percent of children with ANLL achieve complete ...
