Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Clinical and ventilator waveforms of Chinese patients during pressure support ventilation

open access: yesScientific Data
In the field of critical care medicine, accurate analysis of physiological waveform data is crucial for clinical decision-making. Although existing public databases provide a wealth of physiological waveform data, publicly available ventilator waveform ...

A cluster randomized trial on inspiratory effort-targeted pressure support adjustment strategy in patients undergoing assisted mechanical ventilation: protocol for the IT-PSV study

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundPressure support ventilation (PSV) is one of the most frequently used ventilator modes in the intensive care unit (ICU). The successful implementation of PSV depends on matching the patient’s inspiratory effort with the ventilator support.

Polydatin up-regulates clara cell secretory protein to suppress phospholipase A2 of lung induced by LPS in vivo and in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background Lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in children. The damage to membrane phospholipids leads to the collapse of the bronchial alveolar epithelial barrier ...

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.

Transfusion related acute lung injury presenting with acute dyspnoea: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2008
Introduction Transfusion-related acute lung injury is emerging as a common cause of transfusion-related adverse events. However, awareness about this entity in the medical fraternity is low and it, consequently, remains a very under-reported and often an

Involvement of leukotriene pathway in the pathogenesis of ischemia-reperfusion injury and septic and non-septic shock. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) pathway is responsible for the production of leukotrienes (LTs), inflammatory lipid mediators which play a role in innate immunity. More recently, a pivotal role of LTs in ischemia-reperfusion and shock injury has been suggested.

Bioactive Conductive Ti3C2Tx‐Ce Hydrogel Facilitates Spinal Cord Injury Repair Through ROS Scavenging and Mitochondrial Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioactive conductive Ti3C2Tx‐Ce hydrogels with with scavenging ROS and alleviating neuronal mitochondrial dysfunction are exploited for SCI treatment. This functionality is attributed to interfacial activation modification of Ti3C2Tx with Ce3+ ions to in‐situ form Ce(OH)x‐mediated protective layer, which is beneficial to enabling stable intracellular ...

Megakaryocyte and platelet thrombospondin-1 regulates matrix remodeling by stabilizing basement membrane COL6A1 in lung injury

open access: yesNature Communications
An early event after lung injury is extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling and the formation of a provisional matrix. While megakaryocytes and platelets (Mgk/plt) play important roles in hemostasis, their impact on the matrix in lung injury is not fully ...
