Close relationship between β2‐microglobulin and type 2 diabetes‐associated peripheral neuropathy
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction This study aimed to elucidate the correlation between β2‐microglobulin (β2‐MG) and peripheral neuropathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Materials and Methods Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) was defined on the nerve conduction study (NCS).

Ptosis without Ophthalmoplegia in Acute Motor Axonal Neuropathy Variant of Guillain-Barré Syndrome in Children: A Case Series [PDF]
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is the most common cause of acute flaccid paralysis in children. The clinical variants include Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy (AIDP), Acute Motor Sensory Axonal Neuropathy (AMSAN), Acute Motor Axonal

ABSTRACT Objectives Hansen disease is a neglected infectious disease associated with reactional inflammation, neuropathy and long‐term disability. Renal involvement and sarcopenia have been described separately, but their clinical coexistence has received limited attention. This review examines evidence for a hypothesised renal–functional vulnerability

Abstract Women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have a greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease than healthy control (HC) women who had an uncomplicated pregnancy. Microvascular endothelial dysfunction, mediated by reduced nitric oxide (NO)‐dependent mechanisms, persists after GDM.

Hypoxia‐induced vulnerability of the somatosensory nervous system
Abstract figure legend Sensory neurons are highly energy dependent and rely on sufficient oxygen availability to maintain metabolic stability and effective neurocommunication. Within the somatosensory system, even modest reductions in tissue oxygen tension impair neuronal respiration, forcing a shift toward less efficient metabolic pathways that ...

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an immune‐mediated neuropathy that may cause persistent disability despite immunoglobulin treatment. Ion channel dysfunction has been demonstrated in CIDP, but no therapies specifically target this mechanism.

The Maintenance of Dysmyelinated Small‐Diameter Axons by 14‐3‐3s in the Central Nervous System
Dysmyelinated small‐diameter axons are maintained in teneurin‐4 deficient mice at the age of 1 year, while axonal damage is observed. 14‐3‐3s are highly expressed and suppress the progression of the damage in these axons. ABSTRACT In the central nervous system, myelin formed around nerve axons by oligodendrocyte enables efficient conduction of action ...
